I get the impression that he is quite successful so I don't think he's financially stressed

What a terrific way to load mating boxes. Just shaking bees in and taking a chance of low bee populations at the end of the day can be a problem. Now I can see how many bees are actually going in to the box.

These are really strong, why so strong compared to normal cup full? Are your nighttime temperatures low and that is why you are populating them so strong?

Don do you suggest putting a queen cell in there or put a frame/cut strip of eggs in and let them make one?

I think these are just for mating purposes. You would want to make the queens in strong queen/queenless colonies because of the need for lots of food resources i. e. Royal jelly

Hey don, question for ya.. I'm in central California and it's about 100 degrees outside right now. I made up 2 frame deep nucs and added a frame of honey and frame of a little brood plus bees and a Virgin queen. Is it ok they are in direct sun from about 11-7 pm?

Thank you very much! I was worried they would over heat.
