Vanity straps / ropes are a must! Anything you can do to avoid conversations with enforcement is helpful. I even go a fair bit slower than the speed limit and turn more sedately when i have a load. Everyones day is better if you dont give them a reason to talk with you. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I'd have been so livid with the insurance breaker, yes even though you should have had it in the vehicle etc etc, but even so damn, he made it so much worse. Lessons to be learned indeed! Hopefully court will drop the insurance thing once you get and explain. We love you thub and there will sometimes be the odd jam we get ourselves in, very frustrating and expensive but in perspective there are worse things that can happen to a person (I say that but I'd still be livid with myself😂) You don't have superthanks, I was going to send a little one towards your tickets, you might want to consider signing up for that future, if some of us send even $5 it would add up👍

In my state you can go before the judge and show proof of payment with policy, and it gets dismissed. Everything but the unsecured load would get dismissed. Good luck.

Kinda figured from the load you got pulled over. Ratchet straps are a pita But I always strap stuff down. Why i keep several long easy pull-type(lashing, cam&buckle) straps. Doesn't need to be crazy secure, just enough to not get pulled over and keep stuff from sliding around.

Gotta have all that stuff on hand my guy! I still carry paper copies cuz im often waaay out beyond service areas. And yes our local PD will nail you driving around with any load above the box without straps, and if theres any smalls that can fly out they want a tarp covering everything too! They nail guys driving to the landfill daily… thats all a bummer for you, but it was probably coming some day and could have been worse. Cheers

I learned this the hard way when I was 16, and the only thing that kept me out of jail at the time was.... I was 16!! I have never dumpster dived again, and I am now 58! That being siad, I would have totally taken all of that wood as well! Nice piece of 4x8 sheet you're standing on, that shit is expensive!

Yea I’m 16 and I do scrapping but I have stopped doing dumpster diving after I got yelled at that is rly all I needed to stop that but I am still doing street scrapping since that is technically in the public right away

In the first slide off, when I saw the painting items, I knew you would have paint on yourself. With repairing the mowers, you should do a top notch repair, cleaning and sharpening the blades. I've known individuals who've done this mainly during the winter time, accumulating mowers late summer and fall.

That's one thing I like about living in the UK. There is a national database of all insured vehicles that the Police can check instantly. They also have instant access to details about whether the vehicle is Taxed and has a current MOT (a full yearly safety inspection). We are only required to carry our driving licence, although if we don't, they can access our photo licence as well.

In the USA they don't know if your insurance is valid or not. You could have a policy card that shows it's valid even if you haven't been paying it and its canceled. 😅

In Seattle you can catch a huge fine if you put paint in a dumpster thats wet it has to be 100% dry and hard first.

I fix mowers all the time and its usually just skunky gas or something very minor. There is another youtuber "Donyboy73" that has great videos on repairing any small engine you may want to work on. DEFINITELY worth the pick up, and can easily make lots of money doing it. Good luck.

It was going so well ,sorry about the tickers ,sounds like you had a harsh police officer there ,hope you sort out the fines ,hopefully only get the fine for the load not Tied down ,as when travelling and roads that are not maintained you could hit a pot hole etc and items could fall out ,maybe show the video of how you secured the load .Wish you well ,love your presenting and explaining ,always a pleasure viewing your amazing videos .

I found a lot of older dewalt cordless tools in bags, in a dumpster. The next day there was an employee still dropping the shop when i went by around 8:00pm. A different employee received his first anniversary with the company and the owner had replaced all of his tools with brand new ones since he had brought them with him when he started. All the old 18v tools still sort of worked, but the batteries were failing. i already had all the new 20v dewalt tools, but have them stashed away since there's an adapter available for the 20v packs can be used. i took small engine repair in high school. 9/10 they just need a clean air filter, oil filter, or spark plug re-gaped to specs, sometimes if they're older a new fly wheel or piston.

Your insurance person is like “ yea I’ve got you back…..officer he’s guilty…give him $1000 worth of tickets” My dad would call that a knucklehead tax….we do something wrong to ourselves ….that’s avoidable… life lesson tax. Best of luck fighting the tickets in court🤞 Whatever fines you do get stuck with, go to the Sheriffs office and make a payment plan/ agreement with them. That way you don't have to pay the whole amount immediately.

The roll off in the lady's driveway was densely packed. The stacked and flat orientation. The empty space on the end. It looks like a long term reduction of possessions project. The hauler will be surprised when it gets picked up. Edit 1: My opinion is Monet was nearsighted. Edit 2: The police in my town decided to crack down on crime, and started ticketing jay walking. One night, one of my daughters and the group she was in got stopped. The officer had to call for more tickets because he ran out. There was no more crime in our town...

I know this is old but those people who get mad when you get scrap or something out of a roll off box are so dumb. They are most likely paying for weight and by you taking that out of their only helps them. Not to mention the less bs in the landfill. People don’t understand recycling is more than just cans or cardboard.

It has more to do with liability. If someone gets hurt on your property they sue you. Even if they're trespassing by coming onto your lawn, climbing in your bin and then falling, jabbing, cutting etc themselves. We've had a dorm that they replaced the windows on. Extruded aluminum frames, but the glass was well and truly epoxied into them so just thousands of jagged shards sticking out of the frames. The dumpster divers didn't care. Had a guy, NO GLOVES, shorts, and tennis shoes, just rummaging through it pulling pieces out. One slip and he'd have bled out in minutes.

When you find an overwhelming opportunity like 5 mowers you do not yet have the skills for you DO want to take them. You can use them to follow instructions in a YTUniversity video on small engine troubleshooting. You can sell them asis for parts. You can trade them as is for something you want. You can gift them to a local school so they can have the object lesson on the real thing. There are just so many ways to benefit yourself and your fellow man.

I used to put metal or alu sheets on the top , plus straps ..never got any problem .that policeman was in french : ZELE , usually a 48 hours warnint to show licences is ok

how far out is your court date? I feel like the only ticket they will drop is the forth one for a producing false documents or whatever they called it. not having registration doesn't seem worth fighting if you found out your registration was out of date. The first insurance charge and the unsecured load charge are probably worth fighting but I don't know if anything will change either way.

In the uk they’re pretty strict on insecure loads, basically anything in the bed of your truck whether it’s a 500kg digger bucket or a bag of feathers must be strapped down, and for stuff like dirt, branches, loose scrap metal, etc you need a net or cover to go over it, probably varies a bit around the country but where I live the police have nothing better to do😂

Adulthood is hard, seems to be a reoccurring issue for several years nows, from not being legal, entering private property without permission, forgetting your wallet, to always running late barley making it to the yard before it closes. Mowers are easy money, even non running the bags alone can sell up to $40, plenty of folks willing to buy for parts and who are more knowledgeable at repairing them would easily given you 25-50 a mower, just to buy one replacement wheel or control cable cost $15+ each from the local store. Same is true on many of the bikes some vintage and brand names will fetch good resale in any condition. You have the room and time to list for sale instead of tossing them in the scrapyard for a dollar in weight.

Yep, got an unsafe load ticket last November. I didn't strap the load, my fault. The fine was like 138 bucks but the 3 points on my license stings a little. I feel your pain. Great pickin though 😅

Follow up on the start of the vdeo. There are pros and cons about the situation. At least you weren't towed! We all been there. The registration would be on you, Thub 😂 It happens and can be resolved, thankfully. The insurance slip being sent over did sound a bit fishy to the cop. Looks like the lady set you up. Looking like you just got insurance during the traffic stop. So i see where the guy came from. Unfortunately that looked sus. Not saying I want to see it happen to you. Its all a bad time but yes. Lesson learned and a nice polo shirt or maybe break out the nicest suit and tie from the wardrobe for your date. I never under stood the outlook of cops and their view of securing a load. I spent years driving my truck. I also did make the straps visable, often bright orange or yellow on purpose. Honesty most time my loads were secure but I still put a strap on it, which didn't do anything BUT it was just for the cops to see. Thats it. As long as it looks like its all good. Then its all good to them. I have even put the straps on without tightening them. They were just sort of snug. And cops would pass on by. So that was a day wasn't it? But yes it was a good day despite the pull over. Now get the documents in order and play dress up for court and back to the grind! Love what you do. And more importantly i would love to donate to the "Document" fund. But I recently lost my job and now back to searching for one. Still scraping of course. So if I come across some coppers I'll send them your way!

lawn mowers arent worth it unless it a working elecrtric vintage, otherwise you find their a dime a dozen. worth stacking if you have a large yard but than they begin to get difficult to process from rusting bolts.
