The freshly-fallen snow crunching under your feet as you're collecting reagents or laying to rest the irradiated gnomes of Gnomeregan. Gazing up in awe at the giant fortress of Ironforge, the crisp, alpine air around you tinged with an aroma of freshly molten copper/bronze//iron/thorium. Wondering what adventures and danger await you beyond the sanctity of Dun Morogh. I wonder if I'm the only person who is sitting here now, staring out the window, wondering how a computer game can pull you in and change your life on such a deep, emotional, and almost spiritual level...

2:00, I remember the first time I played Wow on the trial, I felt so immersed into the world, everything was fresh and I was a total noob. I was new to the concept of an MMO, the fact that you could talk through the internet to other players blew my mind away. I had many friends who I would log on everyday to play with but now it's like all my friends have quit; my once lively server is now dead. Wow has lost that social aspect which many of us grew to love. It's just not the same... I wish I could repeat all that over again... again... and again.... But I doubt I will ever get that feeling like I did with World of Warcraft ever again.

World of Warcraft was more than just a game. It was my life. I purposely stopped playing for a very long time. It was too much for me. As much as I would like to "see how things are again," I know I can never go back. Things are different now. WoW will always have a place in my heart.

+KoiandDragon just like in your case, the WoW universe absorbed me for 3 years and then it spit me out again. at some point (late wotlk) the game just didnt feel like the one that i used to love so much. at the same time i faced some huge changes IRL and decided that it was time to say goodbye to WoW, a major part of my teenage life and also personal development. i never went back because i feared that my addiction could come back but if someone would ask me if i regret it? hell no. the feeling of entering stormwind or ironforge for the very first time. seeing lvl 60 players duelling outside of the city, some others sitting on their epic mounts. the sheer size of azeroth. god damn i miss those times. but comments like yours put a smile on my face. thank you sharing.

I was 15 years old and sitting on the family computer. It was the middle of the day and the sun was shining in through the windows, revealing the dust flying around in the air. I hadn't put on my socks and my feet were cold. Mom was vacuuming the house, and I knew she was angry at me for not going outside or doing my homework, which I should have done. I hadn't showered for long and I felt dirty and sweaty, but I kept playing anyway. Those were my worst memories of playing WoW. Then I was 17 years old. Mom was in the kitchen with her new boyfriend, she was in a good mood. Everyone in the house were in a good mood. It was evening, and I had opened the window for some fresh air. I was clean, and had soda and lots of candy. I raiding ICC for the first time. Mom was making pizza and my brother was playing the piano. Those were my best memories of playing WoW..

I remember growing up me and my brother really wanted to play with each other, but mom didn't want to pay for two separate accounts so me and my brother decided to make trial accounts and make Gnomes. After making Gnomes we decided to go on an adventure to Stormwind from the starting zone. Don't ask why, but we both stripped all our starting armor off and went our way. I remember getting on the train in Ironforge with my brother and being mesmerized after seeing Nessy and thinking what the hell was that?! A level 60 priest on her mount passes by and for a reason since forgotten traded me some wool cloth, but a stack too much, before riding off. I was distraught, naively thinking that she might need the wool, i set off after her, finally catching her at the town hub. I was like 12-13 years old and I almost shed a tear because of the feelings it brought me. I still think of that moment every now and then and it's a beautiful memory. It's been 10 years. Griffon rides from ironforge, duels with buddies and other players, being there right from the release, memories. I don't wanna get too melancholic, but it was a damn good trip back in the days. Wow has changed, i have changed, but the journey and memories stay. Recently started on Kronos to make another journey through the world of classic WoW, but it's just not the same anymore.

These comments are all hittin. I started playing WoW in 2008, just in time for the Midsummer Fire Festival. Night Elf Druid. Exploring the environment, learning to quest, guilds, instances… everything was so captivating. Magical. I miss the game and those times.

I come back to listen to songs from WOW. This was without doubt the biggest and then best time burglar that one could have had. I had friends who played WOW for 2000 hours a year. Think about if they worked a second job for that many hours.

That "start-noob-feeling" was the best ! Stronger than in every other game! Missing the good old times, too ;)

i hear my food-step in the snow... 20 years from now... i can hear the wind in my ears... every year; every season... every moment... back; wandering; questing; in the reach of ironforge...

Countless hours during late nights in these zones... questing, chatting. Good days, I miss WoW, especially vanilla WoW.

Sometimes when i'm walking outside, I can smell the fresh air of early 2000s. I want to go home so badly...

You are absolutely right, I have never been able to formulate it other than in my mind. However I can't help but think how great it used to be, the memories.. If only it was possible to make a time machine.

2:03 will always strike me in the saddest, most beautiful way. I've played this game for years... I've grown up with it. It was a great comfort to me during a bad time in my life; a place to go, a way to escape from everything for a while. Azeroth has always been my home. I will never forget it.

I remember my lil' dwarf hunter questing here during burning crusade... I was amazed by the level 60&70 chilling in Kharanos... I also remember when I was taming different mobs before taming my own pet, and when I tamed my fist bear, I was hyped AF. Now you just have to log-in to have a lvl.1 bear... Sad memories!

2:03 is just pure bliss... insta-goosebumps. That moment and the rest of the track after that is just perfect.

Remember trying to get to the top of Ironforge.. or to that hidden flight landing pad. Managing that before flying mounts was quite an accomplishment..

You never can go back, but damn is it nice to reminisce about that magic year back in '06 and being a n00b on WoW and rping all day instead of going to class. No regrets.

Ahhh my first character ever was a dwarf paladin.. I leveled in those snowy areas for days.. The music kept me here for long. Than every new ally character of mine suddenly found itself in Dun Morogh.

Waving at fellow dwarves, getting drunk with random dwarves and gnomes on many different Ale's. Grouping up to kill rare mobs, having a laugh when failing, cheering up when succeeding. Have journeys while the snow is heavily falling, just enjoying the silence of the night and the glory of the music. Where is all that gone? I remember spending all my silver on fireworks from IF, going all the way to Auberdine, at night, and start a show, fellow allies would always join in and cheer up!

I was a Human Warrior on my first day of the 14 Day Trial. I can't remember what I named him, but he was amazing to play. Seeing Stormwind for the first time, getting killed by Defias... I miss it.

I remember trying to get to Ironforge from Teldrassil with my friends at like level 10. God, traveling to Menethil Harbour and running through the Wetlands was an effort. We died numerous times on the way there, haha. I remember being so amazed at the snow. when we eventually got to Dun Morogh. Now there's a boat that takes you straight to SW. It's funny how times change. :P

This is the first music score I heard in WoW back in the closed beta, walking up the long slope to Ironforge then walking inside to see this huge city with players everywhere

i remember my first time ever playing. Spawning in the dwarven starting zone, hearing the snow crunch beneath my boots, this music....then checking out the map and *zooming out*, gasping at the immensity of the whole game world, and how small and puny i was.
