Just from the theater. This is a masterpiece. WB don't be greedy, Netflix throws 400 mlns on Knives Out sequels. It's not about money, it's about reputation, it brings honor to the company. Let Deni Villeneuve start the production of the sequel! We need the second part!

Each and every one nailed their part, the plot was intense and amazing, and the cinematography was just wow. An absolute banger. Do watch on theaters, you would definitely not be disappointed. @@George-sc4yh I'm going to watch it today in my country and I've almost finished the first book: I garantee it's not that complicated as people usually thinks. It's a story with depth and complexity, but not incredibly hard to follow. And to give you more relief: the aim of the director was to balance between the movie being a worthy adaptation of the books AND accessible to the general public. He was pretty adamant on this last part, and seeing how currently this movie has a pretty high rating in IMDB, the same as such movies as Alien and Terminator, it must mean that both critics and normie moviegoers loved this movie, considering that nobody likes movies too convoluted to follow, signaling thus that he indeed managed to make it accessible for everyone.

It was boring, no action, pointless dialogues, good music, average CGI and first half of movie was one big chaos with all the names, planets, monarchies and stuff like that. I've read all 6 original DUNE books, and seen the 80s film and the sci-fi channel series. This new movie is superb! Amazing acting, costumes, sets & cinematography, and the soundscape is awe inspiring. Highly recommend for DUNE fans and for any new to the story. I'm so impressed with how this film version takes the original source material and follows it so well within a movie setting (of course minor changes, or omissions, are necessary in a film). I was really worried the film & director would have a hard time balancing the deeper tension of the sociopolitical drama, the mystical & foreboding powers, as well as the action. The books often have very long monologs, pages of internal dialogue, & contextual information, so I was glad to see this film tackle these themes while still maintaining a beautiful, and enthralling film. My husband us unfamiliar with DUNE and he was totally drawn in by the story/plot, acting, and music. You can take anyone to see this film with you

its a movie about worms....literally....and a dude that turns into a worm and then dies. i gurantee you, you will hate it. its one of the worst sci-fi series ever made. Its like starwars but 100 times worse. the entire conflict happens inside his head. the books get progressively worse. some stories lost most of their appeal in a visual medium. there's a reason he looks dead on the screen...its bc he's already dead on the inside lol. There are no real aliens either, its just humans. its honestly awful. Even the writting style is horrendous. IF it makes it into a relatively cool movie it will only be if they significantly alter the entire plot. Otherwise: sand, giant worms, emo ppl, repeat. They have never been able to make the whole series even tho they keep trying bc its just THAT bad. Ppl just lose interest. To this day its one of the main reasons I don't like sci-fi. Its like one of those ''caught in a dream" stories but its supposed to span thousands of years. The author was allegendly on drugs when he wrote it. Which is why it gets progressively worse lol.
@andrabook8758
@andrabook8758 3 жыл бұрын
OH and bc it all happens inside his head the audience always knows what;s gonna happen next. its honestly horrible. Its like an exercise in sucking every bit of joy out of reading a book. The author got the idea for it after watching ppl trying to plant grasses to stabilize sand dunes. Yeah....and he figured in his crazed brain on drugs that ''what if we didn;t do that, and the dunes just never ended"....and then he wrote a book about sand dunes. ANd before anyone yells spoilers, I did not say anything which is not on the cover of the novels or on wiki....so, yeah. The most fascinating part of this, the worms...are never explained. You never find out more than is in the trailer. They're just giant worms on a planet of sand. thats it. the end.

Interesting Fact, Frank Herbert's Dune was so complicated and ahead of its time, some filmmakers in the 70s couldn't catch up to the novel's setting and had to cancel due to high budget. Then came later à proper movie in 1984, which only managed to follow half the novel's setting. But now 2021, Dennis Villeneuve managed to create this masterpiece, staying true to the original novel back in 1965. Its crazy that it took more than 50 years to catch up to Frank Herbert's imagination, he was way ahead of his time.

@Kryptonian I had never read or seen the previous adaptations for Dune, so when I saw they were ‘houses’ and were gonna start warring with each other I thought the same thing. “I’ve seen thing before”. But for some reason this one caught my attention. Maybe it was the director or the actors. Or even Hans Zimmer that did it for me. Maybe cuz it was dark and not cheesy. Just seemed like breath of fresh air for some reason

Well it looked good but nearly all the actors and actresses just lacked any screen presence. It just couldn't quite match David Lynch's even with all the problems he had and all the new CGI of today. It was pleasant but it just suffered from bland script and acting.

@@nothingsurprisesmeanymore The acting in David Lynch previous adaptation was very poor comical. Whereas the acting in David Villeneuve version is top notch. The main character the boy Paul played by Timothée Chalamet has very good screen presence. And Jason Momoa put in a great performance of the character Duncan. The original Dune is a cult classic but a average at best very flawed film. As shown by the reviews of it. While the new Dune is a excellent movie with mostly good reviews.

This was perhaps my most anticipated film of this year and it did not dissapoint. Denis Villeneuve like always has delievered strongly with this movie. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer because the whole lore surrounding the Dune universe is a lot to absorb and it seemed a bit jumpy in the early segments of the movie but maybe that's because I watch too many shows and expect everything to be as in depth as an 8 hour long show. The soundtrack for the movie was amazing it's Hans Zimmer so what more can we expect from the maestro. The scene with the sand worm towering over Paul in the last segment of the movie had powerful music and made the scene even greater. I was completely blank about what the story is about I did a bit of research but after watching the movie I feel like reading the books too the whole lore is so intriguing, it has so many layers to it. Timothee Chalomet is one of the most talented young actors out there right now and imo the best at the moment he compeletely embodies all the characters he plays as and I loved him in this movie although we got to see only a few intense scenes which seperates the great from the good and he did not let us down. Overall Villeneuve has built a strong base for a trilogy.

Anyone who's watched all his films can make a case for him being the greatest filmmaker. They may not win but the case can be made. As far as direction is concerned, the skill of blocking and framing and execution a narration... Villeneuve is undoubtedly the best. He has stuck to the fundamentals and elevated it. Ari Aster, Scorcese, Kurosawa, Cuaron and of course the legend that is Bergman are also up there. But many of these greats were limited by smaller scopes. Villeilneuve has executed larger scaled stories with the same precision that the greats directed their more intimate films. So by a standardized definition, he is hands down the best director of all time.

Thing with Dune is that book format is the best for it, and making it into a movie will inevitably remove a crucial layer of it's storytelling 'plans within plans', what's happening inside characters heads, their internal monologues, which makes the book such a unique and fascinating read, all of that will be 'lost in translation', and brought into what it looks like 'Star Wars' level of storytelling. I'm honestly very skeptical about this movie, you want to fully immerse yourself in Dune universe, read it.

They both know this is essentially a terribly elaborate assassination to secure the Emperor's power: the two most influential houses after the imperial house is Atradies (respected by the people) and Harkonnen (powerful and wealthy). Harkonnen controls Dune. Emperor gives Dune to Atradies knowing Harkonnen will lash out, in the process eliminating or severely weakening Atradies and demonizing Harkonnen in the eyes of the people. And with his hands perfectly clean, the Emperor has murdered the threat to his throne in broad daylight.

Going by the 2000 low budget tv series, which I love, should be 3 parts for 1st book, then that series did 1 part for 2nd book and 2 for the 3rd. 1st part in series ended with Paul flying into storm. Hope they keep going.

@@speedingatheist lmao Disney?? That was like before 2011? She’s in marvel movies, the greatest showman , euphoria, and a lot of other places that are positively well reviewed. It’s a whole 2021 hating on people is mad wack. Some people just can’t stand the success of other people and it’s so weird. Either way if your gonna call her anything you could at least call her that silly little marvel movie girlie (who is actual a woman bc she’s like 25 really all you had to do was Google it but your filled with hatred for no reason 😩🤣.)I wonder how it feels to be bitter about someone who doesn’t even know you exist yikes 😂

The book glosses over a lot of the battle sequences, and focuses on external and internal dialogue. although this film will be true to the book, it will actually showcase a lot of scenes that aren't really in the book. Highly recommend reading if you haven't yet. It won't spoil the film as much as it makes you thirstier for it.

@@Evanspar If I remember correctly, the time jump in the middle of book suggests that Paul and the Fremen have been fighting the Harkonnens for a couple of years. I'm guessing this is that first battle against the Harkonnens with Paul leading them.

Greig Fraser's cinematography doesn't disappoint. His work on Rogue One and Season One of The Mandalorian goes to show he's still good in his game.

Oh he's responsible for the camera work's directing in Season 1? I believe it then cuz Season 2's shots were so quick and really like.. not structured or showing what's going on, just random comicbook stills. Season 1 actually gave you sensory information, while 2 was just random shots of people in every direction doing something.. so that's neat.

@@rickardkaufman3988 Good, he deserves it. I like Season 2 and everything but you can REALLY tell, like there's no semblance of care about what's going on. When Boba and Fennec help Mando and the Stormtroopers come they're just surrounding Fennec and him in every shot shooting at him until Boba appears for his epic armor reveal, there's so much substance and sense taken out of it compared to Season 1 where the shots all had meaning and "strategy" and realism. lmao

Its probably true for most movies? Graphics and sounds should most of the time sound better in the theaters compared to your home television. But don't just assume everyone places the artistic qualities that highly when rating the experience of a movie. Good acting, good story, novelty, humour, action and so on are all alternative factors that contribute, but the order of importance varies and is highly subjective. Avoid self objecting when you can. We're all alternate versions of who you could have been but we don't experience life exactly like you.
