I was worried it would be overhyped for me, because I didn’t love the first part. This movie blew me away on every level! It is a spectacle of effects, it is was enthralling with its story and characters, and developed this world even more. A masterclass in sci-fi filmmaking. I was floored. It also flew by for me as well, it was paced to near perfection. Great review, Josh!

you got me hyped. I was 99.99% sure it was gonna be a masterpiece the minute I learned Denis was interested in making the film. I could just tell that he knew what made Dune great, and he just made Blade Runner 2049 which I believe is probably the most fully realized sci-fi world. I love his kind of restraint (while still being epic). Like the scenes and cinematography just speak for themselves and oooooozzz with atmosphere. Not a huuuuge fan of Nolan personally. He's a great director but the writing and plot lines sometimes seem a bit too silly? idk. I wish he'd just translate epic books and story's that already exist. Dunkirk though... god dam that was an amazing war film.

Rendezvous With Rama. Great sci-fi novel by Arthur C. Clarke that should be right up Denis's alley. If he does that before adapting Dune Messiah (into Dune 3 for us) then I think it will most likely improve Dune 3.
