It was a great use of bass. I didn’t know the sound system at the Lincoln Square IMAX could make seats vibrate like they did with this scene. I can’t wait to crank up my subwoofer and shake the house when this comes out on Blu-Ray.

Stilgar's story is tragic. He starts off as a tough, wise Fremen leader, mentor, and friend to Paul, but by the end, he's an unthinking zealot.

"In that instant, Paul saw how Stilgar had been transformed from the Fremen naib to a creature of the Lisan al-Gaib, a receptacle for awe and obedience. It was a lessening of the man, and Paul felt the ghost-wind of the jihad in it" - Dune, Book 1.
@jamesstreetart
@jamesstreetart 8 ай бұрын
@@meldroc I had a similar opinion until I saw another comment someone made about looking at it from Stilgar's perspective. We as the audience know that the prophecy is manufactured and that the Fremen are being deceived, but Stilgar himself is a true believer who has had his faith rewarded and seen the promises of his religion realized right before his eyes. His messiah has returned, destroyed the Harkonnens who have been oppressing his people, and is promised the green paradise that's central to his people's hope for the future. We know he's a pawn, but all he sees is every wish he's ever had coming true.
@kkirschkk
@kkirschkk 7 ай бұрын
@@jamesstreetart tbf at the end of the day even if he is a pawn he is happy. The Fremen get literally everything they ever wanted in Dune: They take revenge on everything who has wronged them, they become powerful and they protect there homeland, they get a lush paradise for 3,500 ish years. Yes there core ideas and religion are a lie, but at the end of the day it gives them what they want. Its a bit sad but they in the end "win" at everything.

Yamaha 7×140 deck, 2 Rythmik 18" triple port subs down past 12hrz, but yes the sound of Dune 2 is CRAZY GOOD!!! If u like Imax it gets much bttr than tht! Sucks the glass windows in and out 😅. What I don't get is.. why are the scales/skin plates orientated towards the front of the worm? I mean, holding them open inhibits the worm from diving back beneath the sand do to sand being able to get inside, right? Then wouldn't the natural evolution of the worm have evolved the scales to orientate towards the back do to this reason? Sand would be getting in there without the Strattle claw things. I dunno tho.. the plot has to happen some how I guess.

I find it funny that that is where your suspension of disbelief kicked in. Space Witches you accepted, Fremen having complex technology despite seemingly living in caves you accepted, having psychic conversations with a baby in her future older self you accepted, the fact that a desert planet can even sustain a lifeform as big as the Sand Worm you accepted. Try not to get caught up on the minute details, you'll just unravel every movie in existence you intellectual.

The way the sandworms travel in the movie is by essentially aerating the sand, and making it more liquid. The skin plates are oriented towards the front because this directs the sound (the deep clicking) towards the front, allowing the worm to travel. Otherwise, the sound goes behind the worm which wont aid its movement at all.

That’s actually how Brian Herbert wrote them and since he invented them, that’s how it is. It doesn’t harm the sand worms to be ridden. So why should they evolve to prevent it?

Annoying that sometimes the Fremen deliberately walk in a specific way to avoid attracting a Worm, yet other times they ignore it ..

Man the sound design for these movies is "out of this world." Get it? On account of Dune being a whole separate planet from ours? Just a little humor for those of us who are DEEP into the lore Edit: I've never actually seen any of the movies or read any of the books. Just relax in the replies everybody. I really appreciate all the likes but I don't think we need to be getting political or anything

This is nothing. My wife rode mighty Shai-Hulud on our wedding night. And she certainly didn't use hooks.

As a Worms Rights Activist, I think how they use these creatures as beasts of burden is disgusting! They're just nomnom'n through the desert in peace and then some lunatic space crackheads start grappling your worm holes open.

Okay, I've curious about one thing since I saw the fremen ride these things. Can they actually STEAR the worms or is it like an ant riding on someone's shoe???
@anjelica948
@anjelica948 Ай бұрын
From what I can tell, the reason they can ride at all is bc those hooks pull on the protective flaps that keep the sand out of the worm’s breathing apparatus, which forces the worm to the surface to not suffocate. I assume that they have many of these openings, and by pulling or relaxing on specific ones, that’s how they stere. Similar how if a horse has a bit in its mouth, and you pull on one side, the horse naturally turns that way bc of the pressure.
