As someone else already mentioned, if a laser gun hits your shield it causes a massive explosion of a nuclear proportion, the Harkonnen's were not sure whether they were under attack from Fremen with lasers or with maula pistols so it's safer not to use them in case someone's shield gets hit by a laser

The secret is that all of these shots (and every other high-concept shot in a blackbuster) are paintings. Or at least, start off with them. They're storyboarded and then designed in concept art before it is shot and then handed off to VFX (if it isn't pretty much entirely CGI like this one). They may not be straight matte paintings like older films would have done, but they're absolutely recreating one. Makes the artbooks a joy. Heck, a different piece of concept art for that shot is actually the cover for Part 2's artbook.

Insane soundtrack and amazing unique atsmosphere. It'a literally amazing scene for understanding this lore. Dramatic, epic, futurustic, complex and variety lore. Secondly, before Arrakis, how they perfectly showed the Emperor and his reaction to Leto's death, it was very accurate. Shaddam loved Leto as his son, but still he strove for power and therefore killed him, which was very painful for him as a man. Walken did amazing job. Same like Pugh. Not everyone prefers 16:9+ aspect ratios. I much prefer a nice wide 2.4:1 for cinematic titles. Seeing more is not necessarily better. Letterboxing and cropping in focuses the eyes on what is happening in the scene and what is important. Comes down to preference at the end of the day. Planet Earth BBC style documentaries obviously benefit from a full frame, and actually, IMAX was created for nature content in the first place. It depends what the director is going for. The vast vast overwhelming majority of films are released in 2.35-2.4:1. There's a reason. You could also argue that 60fps is smoother, but every single film is released in 24fps. Its "more cinematic", as cringe as that might sound a lot of the time.
