In the Dune book, Paul says to Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam at one point "Try looking into that place where you dare not look! You'll find me there, staring out at you!”. I'm getting those vibes from the vision and wondering if they're peering into the place Bene Gesserit dare not look. Also, it looks like the lethality of Desmond's "power" increases the more fear someone has. It's possible this is how the Bene Gesserit created the Litany Against Fear. Many interesting reveals and more questions given in this episode.
@ItsYOUNGSENSEI9 күн бұрын
The origin of the Litany angle is pretty cool i dig it.
@blitzgirl65229 күн бұрын
Very true, I made this same comment to my friend last night while we watched this, that nobody yet has said the infamous mantra "Fear is the mind-killer", and this planted the seeds for it. It's also worth noting that they are known as the "Sisterhood" at this point, not yet the "Bene Gesserit".
@jamesfoster9613Күн бұрын
I think that was more of a metaphor, considering they're talking about other memory not prescience? It's a hard say. I still think its the God Emperor though I think they're playing with both that idea and Omnius at the same time.

Wow we got Ixians and Tleilaxu in one episode! Best episode of the show so far. Fun fact George Martin is a huge Dune fan obviously and based the faceless men on those concepts.. without giving away too much 😊

Well done to the production team for not being afraid to introduce the most bizarre themes of the Dune universe, which we haven't seen at all in Villeneuve's films. I don't know to what extent the normative public will welcome these samples of purer science fiction like Face-dancers or the Ixians. The books created by Frank Herbert's son certainly have their strong points, but also their negative points. I think that adapting with a certain freedom is a good thing for the television product.
@Diogolindir9 күн бұрын
I have a similar opinion to yours. Dune is strange but I love it for it and Im surprised that this series is going for that, despite the hate the series receive, I think they do like and respect Dune for what it is and I know adapting anything Dune for the general public is hard.
@pascalblanche9 күн бұрын
they are called face dancers, and they are supposed to be part of another organisation.. the Bene Tleilax, also the tech behind the pyrotechnic might be Ixian, the other organisation pulling strings from the shadows.. We are still missing a glimpse of the Guild Navigators.. cant wait.
@Fischstix959 күн бұрын
idk about dune beyond the new films and this show, but as I understand it there are some pretty surreal elements in the book, such as those guild navigators. aren't they like big fat aliens or something??
@Acatarro9 күн бұрын
@@Fischstix95 Mutant humans, but yes, the more you advance in the Dune books, more bizarre thing appear. Most of it in the books made by the son of Frank Herbert, or if we say correctly, the books he pay to be made. Some books are more interesting than others.
I think Desmond is a cymek, those eyes might belong to a robot because those sounds are machinelike.

Desmond killed the boy because his goal was/is to stop the Sisterhood. He told the kid "to win a war require sacrifices and yours won't be in vein". So in this episode when he said he killed the boy because of his machine toy he lied. It's interesting because it's the first time we see him lying, given that he claims to always tell the truth.
@neroli_0.0_9 күн бұрын
Do they have nano machines in this universe? Because if that's a possibility then Desmond could have left the blood so that when she tried to analyse it it would contaminate whatever machine she used to do the analysis?
@neroli_0.0_9 күн бұрын
It really looks like Desmond left the blood on purpose AND that it might not be his own blood or it's contaminated/altered with something, given that he reached inside his jacket before leaving that blood in front of Valia...

Not a spoiler per say-Theodosia is a face dancer a sort of shapeshifter in the dune universe.I think theodosia is herself as she implies she doesn't like doing it.What some1 can explain to me is-why did valya have her appear as griffin?whats the point?its not real.Also the big blue eyes watching i think is some huge AI overlord-A Titan.
@chaost45449 күн бұрын
Valya didn't make Theodosia appear as Griffin but just wanted to use her skills. I feel Theodosia turned into Griffin because she noticed his portrait at the home and realized it was an important person to Valya. In the moment she understood Valya's motivations and it was like Theodosia accepted the role she was hesitant about playing. I agree the vision we keep seeing is AI. I thought it could be someone else far in the future but the blue and the noises make me think it's an AI that can use prescience. Then again, that could just be a red herring.
