I am starting to get tired of ppl thinking live action will just be better. These stories are fantastical, which is just a hard thing to get across on screen without it looking cheesy, subpar, or disconnected without your heart in it for the story. Totally can be done, it's just such an incredibly hard thing to do. I genuinely love this series and would love an animated version. Anime was made for the outlandish and over the top. This story is decidedly that lol. Princess possie all day

I'm really excited for War of the Rohirrim, and liked the trailer a lot (except for the Peter Jackson movies opening, which I really disliked and felt was distracting.) Then I made the foolish decision to read the comments section... and there were so many comments along the lines of "Female main character = bad and stupid and modern movies suck!" and so on. Comments that don't genuinely critique the show or trailer and are just a veil to spread hatred. It really disheartened me, and I have to remind myself to step back and remember that the internet can amplify negative views, and not to let negativity take away my excitement.
@cephandrius52812 ай бұрын
The Internet definitely rewards a complete lack of nuance, unfortunately. But in honor of the Charity Principle, allow me to take a moment to explain what the actual concern is. First, have you noticed how there aren't really any complaints about the characters in Arcane? Everyone loves Arcane, and nobody seems to care about the wide variety of extremely powerful female characters, or even the gay relationship. So why do people love Arcane, a fairly progressive show in some ways, but complain that Rey or Captain Marvel is woke? It's simply because the writing in Arcane is good. When a character is written poorly, it becomes VERY obvious how the beliefs of the author contributed to that. This used to happen all the time in the other direction, when unskilled authors would give female characters a lack of agency. Now, the opposite is more common, with some female characters not earning their successes or not being punished for their flaws. So, if Hera ends up being a complex and well-written character like Vi, I don't think anyone will complain. But because we've seen a lot of poorly written female characters lately, and because at least part of that is influenced by the writers' left wing bias, people are naturally going to be concerned about that. Though, as you rightly point out, they don't know how to express it very well.

5:20 Absolutely separate Seth's production work after Family Guy from his earlier career. He still has some immature streak in his work, it's a flavor, but you should watch The Orville if you haven't. S1 tried to be an homage/comedy combo of Star Trek to mixed results, but then they just decided to go almost pure homage S2 to the end and it was some of the best Trek I've watched in a long time but it still had some funny chops. Honestly, I think his company could nail the serious but funny setting of Dungeon Crawler Carl. We'll have to see.

You should check out The Orville Seth McFarlane's take on Star Trek if you want a slightly less childish version of his humor

I watched the first season back when it came out, and it didn't really stick at that time; it felt like the McFarlane humor clashed with the Star Trek aesthetic. Then, after being increasingly disappointed by direction the official Star Trek franchise has been veering, I returned to it, and found it very refreshing, and truer to the Roddenberry spirit that guided the original series than anything since, with of course that trademark McFarlane humor layered on top.

Others have already recommended it, but I will throw my two cents into the mix. The Orville is incredible, and Seth McFarland is great in it too, the whole case really! Get past the first season where Fox tried to sell it as a comedy sci-fi adventure, which really didn't work for the most part in my opinion, and get to season 2 and beyond, and the show really comes into its own. Someone else said it is the best Star Trek out there, and I almost agree. At the time it was some of the best Star Trek out there that wasn't Star Trek...lol. Hope they get around to making another season of it.

I think a lot of the AI v localization comes from the way people have treated localizing Japanese media in the US, changing lines and making things "better" to the point that Japanese studios began pushing for a change, and now seeing them start to go through with it, other parts of the world are looking to stay competitive, then come up with some BS reason why they can do it. And when they make those stupid excuses, they try to spread them to other departments so that they can cut costs for their shareholders.

@StarblindCelestial2 ай бұрын
In regards to Dungeon Crawler Carl being animated, I think it would be very thematically interesting (though probably not good) if they did a mix of animated and live action. A big focus of the series is the galaxy not treating crawlers as real people. So if they were to make everything animated except for the humans, that could be kinda cool. They get to do all the crazy fantasy/sci-fi magic stuff that is expensive/hard to make look not silly as animation, but have the actors who are harder to animate with realistic emotions as live action. It would likely flop hard, but could be neat to watch for the first 20 minutes before it gets annoying. Or maybe it's all animated, but the humans are a slightly more realistic animation style so they stick out a bit.

Amazon was wrong about acting, but I think he missed the point of where AI can be in games. At some point if we want better simulations with more dynamic answers from NPCs and etc, AI will be needed for that. It's perfect for the interactive medium. I still hate AI art and writing, but we do need more advanced AI for assets moving and talking in the games (RPGs mostly). Imagine fighting NPCs that were actually as smart and dynamic as players or a mystery game where the NPCs knew how to lie. That'd be cool.

With the wizards of the Coast controversy on updating their online system to remove the 5E stuff... It shouldn't be technically difficult at all. Just time-consuming at cost money. The problem is they only want a single database and for it to always have the latest version of stuff. What they should have done is create a second database so now they have one for the old version 5E that 99% of people use and one version for the latest rules that they just released. This way people can continue to use the rule set that they are familiar with while also dabbling in the new rule set as a completely separate thing. They could also have a character converter to import character sheets from the old version into the new one. Lots of things they could have done and still can do moving forward besides just overriding the current rule set with the newest rule set and forcing people to only use the new rules only. But like I said that costs time and money to implement and keep running.
