As for why Gruumsh is in Acheron, in early editions, particularly in 2E when Planescape was written and a lot of the fluff was made regarding where the God's domains were located and what they were like, orcs were specifically lawful evil. Modern editions usually give an excuse that Gruumsh is on Acheron to battle Maglubiyet, or that he prefers Acheron to the Chaotic Evil aligned outer planes, which includes the Abyss (which you already know a lot about), Carceri (a bunch of spheres that act as prisons and modeled after Dante's Inferno), or Pandemonium (underground tunnels filled with gale-force winds that drive you both crazy and death).

Just for trivial knowledge Maglubiyet comes from the Turkish word of Mağlubiyet which means loss but this loss is not like a loss of a friend or an item or object but its the loss againts a certain person creature or concept. So we can say that anyone stepping up to our big goblin boy here will taste mağlubiyet

Birthed the idea of running a campaign or level 20 one-three shot of an all goblin party that gets murdered in battle to go to Acheron and kill Maglubiyet and the general that encourages enslaving goblins. The party then either overthrows Gruumsh or falls to him, then the party rolls new characters and has to stop the overflowing force of whoever won on Acheron... Shoutout to the Dungeonast for giving me so many campaign ideas every episode!

Not sure some petitioners are gonna get away with that. Mostly because getting your class levels back I think requires your God to grant them to you, and they're generaly close to all-knowing within the bounds of their Portfolio. And Magl's portfolio is basically "Goblinoids"

We stumble upon a goblin camp in the middle of a swamp... Conveniently a few sessions before, we found an old book in a library that has a list of deities and a description of them. I play a Half-Orc Barbarian with a proficiency in disguise kits and long story short I've convinced them that I am Maglubiyet and now we're building a goblin army with no end goal in mind.

Blood war mostly takes place on Ghenna hades and carceri. The planes of evil between the abyss and the 9 hells. Archeron is a lawful neutral/evil plane. Closer to the nine hells but between there and Mount celestia
