Genuine 10/10 wave of CMF. This feels like a really natural pairing that allows LEGO a good balance of pulling from preexisting character designs that are already well done, being paired with good LEGO creativity in the fantasy space. This is one of the more exciting sets (if we may see the whole line as a set) being released this year, I absolutely love most of them, while still liking the rest. Even all the nice small additions like the rat, the bird and the baby-dragon, it gives us so much and at such an amazing pricepoint that nobody will be fully left out. My personal favorite is by far the dragonborn paladin, closely followed by the dark skinned barbarian and the vampire. I'm someone not using flesh tones, so some of these are going to be used in other figures, but there is so much to work with, I cannot be anything but ecstatic to have these available. Thanks for the detailed and quick to the point video about the figures!

Named characters explanations for non-D&D fans: Lady of Pain- She is the ruler of this extradimensional city called Sigil. It's portals connect to seemingly all planes of existence, and self-proclaims itself as the center of the universe. LoP herself if very unknown within the lore, but she is suspected to be as powerful or more powerful then the gods themselves, as she can prevent the gods from going through her portals. Strahd von Zarovich- One of D&D's most famous villains, he is its equivalent to Dracula. He rules over a secluded area called Barovia, thought it is also his prision. Tasha- Another very famous D&D villains, she has a complex history as the one of the most powerful witches and demonologists in the Forgotten Realms (the primary setting of current D&D). Similar to the Lady of Pain, she has near godlike powers. Szaam Tam- A powerful lich (undead who can come back to life, provided a special artifact isnt destroyed) who is a leader of country of Thay. Thay, and the Wizards of Thay, are necromancers who wish for world domination by overwhelming with hordes of the undead, among other evil actions. (If you've seen the 2023 D&D movie, the primary antagonist is a Wizard of Thay.)

I originally thought that the Teifling was a warlock and couldn't tell why, but then I realized it was because of the baby dragon. I assumed it was there familiar and Sorcerers don't get access to find familiar on their own. Warlocks on the other hand, if they pick pact of chain at level 3, get a familiar with one of the options being a psuedodragon. My new interpretation is that the tiefling started as a sorcerer but then randomly decided they wanted to be a warlock so they started multi-tasking. For anyone who read through all of that, have a pie 🥧

These are a fantastic new addition, and I really hope they pave the way for more sets. I feel like they can do so much with this collaboration; my dream D&D sets are ones that are affordable, and essentially just act like miniatures for the game. Even though I've never properly played a DnD campaign before, I've used custom Lego figs for other tabletop games, and seeing such detail being put into these figs is amazing! Though, if im being picky, the only thing that would've made this even better is if the minifigure stands where 3x3 instead of 3x4. The square size would work a lot better in campaigns, and perhaps even display! I think most other miniatures out there use a stand that is roughly even in all directions

This is possibly the best CMF series ever made. I can't stress enough how much the little addition of normal yellow ears means for people who might just be LEGO fans (especially fantasy castle fans ) and not DND fans. This little detail makes an otherwise great series be near perfect for me. I honestly don't know how to manage getting 20 of most if not each of these. These seem like exactly what I've been missing for my castle collection. These 12 minifigs don't have everything I want, but they have a lot of what I want. A fancy armor, nice accessories, even the dragon head is nice, cute animals, those yellow elf ears - I really want yellow elf ears on all hair pieces now. and in all colors possible - the eyeball, the printed tiles and book, fancy torsos for anything from special undead to knights, bandits, bards and forest dwelling people. If this does well, I could see them doing another one of these each year, and since D&D is so vast, they might not ever get everything done. Hope they will make some more smaller D&D sets now - and most importantly, I hope they don't stop making LEGO castle / medieval sets - they should keep doing a remake every 2 years and a reimagining the other years until they get basically everything done that we need / want (like all the old factions from the 90s and beyond ). And they really should focus on doing some more small and medium castle sets. They don't need to remake only the big castles.

There does feel like a lot of potential here for a series 2. It seems to be being very well received here in the niche of LEGO KZbin. Hopefully this performs well amongst the more casual fans as well.

@@CheeseyStudios Not sure how well the Series 25 was around your region, but here in my small little country (in the capital) they were always sold out of the good ones - vampire, mushroom, goat man, barbarian - and even the bad ones would sell well enough so that they had a steady stream of shipments. I for one ran for 2 months to get my 20 ish of the ones I wanted - meaning people were buying them like crazy. There is a rumor some guy got 120 goat herders in the first week. On the other hand, the space series 26 went on sale - and I got all my needed figs with one purchase (still need one blacktron guy to make 10 of each of the remakes and 3 of the others). Something tells me one will need to get sealed boxes preordered of these DnD minifigs here. Otherwise, you won't get any of the good ones. I see people scrambling for the dragonborn and some of the other playable characters. I just hope that this selling well doesn't mean then thinking doing DnD instead of castle is going to be good enough.

I like the three villains. Strahd von Zarovich, Mind Flayer, and Szass Tam.

First of all thanks for that tip about the QR code - I had no idea. That will help me save some money. Definitely gonna be picking up the paladin. I was disappointed at first we missed the opportunity for a cool new medieval helmet mold - but more than made up for it with the new armor and some spectacular prints.

Those QR codes are a lifesaver! They work in browser too. Super nifty and easy.

Finally, a review of the series showing off the parts (from a great, reputable KZbinr) Shame the Lady of Pain doesn't have a proper head and headpiece for customs

I was really surprised they didn't print anything on her head. Otherwise, pretty much perfect though

Right? I sure wouldn't mind a series 2!

Yes, I can confirm the tile piece is Tasha's Hideous Laughter. A harmless prank spell for fellow teammates and a devastating control spell on adversaries. I used to torture my friend so much with that spell, very fun.

I love how the Lad of Pain has a figure in this series. Somebody at Lego must be a big Planescape fan because that whole part of D&D is kinda obscure and a bit too weird compared to the more sword & sorcery stuff
@CheeseyStudios4 ай бұрын
She looks so cool though. Very very glad she made it in!

The fact that so many of these characters have gloves makes it a lot easier to mix and match. I bet that was intentional. Also, if series 2 doesn't get a kobold I'm starting a revolt.

@Redence6804 ай бұрын
4:55, nope! For whatever reason ninjago decided to mzke it's own new dragon mould for the summer wave this year. Sometimes I have no idea why Lego do what they do because this is the 3rd baby dragon mould this year and the 4th from since summer last year.
@CheeseyStudios4 ай бұрын
Moulds are so insanely expensive to make too. Thousands upon thousands of dollars.... That's why sets are so expensive. Eek

ooh! i bet i could make my cleric with the tiefling sorcerer head and hair plus the dragonborn paladin torso! interestingly, i did some research and discovered that tasha has never actually looked like that, what with the witch hat and the red hair. it's a totally new design for her.
@CheeseyStudios4 ай бұрын
I'm surprised they took some liberties with Tasha's design! She looks great though in LEGO form imo

The Dragonborn Paladin being the most popular makes sense, as with D&D itself Dragonborn Paladins are the most commonly created characters. There was a study done to see the most common character builds across all of D&D Beyond and the Dragonborn Paladin came first. (My go-to character didn't even make the list, lol.)
