ok can you explain what udl is?
@mechanicalonlineclasses

Unlike a point load, udl is uniformly distributed load. In this case, it is a load uniformly distributed along a given length.

You state constantly that Dunkerly’s equation is empirical. It is not, it has a theoretical basis. Empirical means it was found by observation or test without any background derivation. A brief knowledge of where it comes from helps understand what it is about. That is better than just using it by rote.

Any result is accepted for practical use only after experimental validation and the outcomes mentioned here have both theoretical and experimental basis. So, yeah, it is empirical too.

You have to use mohr's theorem (in strength of materials subject) to find the deflection of beam under different loading conditions
