Undertale is the only game I've justified going out of my way to buy the full soundtrack for, and that's because musically speaking, it carries the moods of the entire game incredibly well. It has a way of bringing up feelings you can't really easily do in a video-game soundtrack. The story itself is honestly remarkable and definitely worth placing as a great RPG story. It integrates gameplay and story together in a really cohesive manner, without making it feel forced and played-out. The characters are written extremely well, and despite their extraordinary setting and their seemingly outrageous personalities, they're very relatable. Personally, I think Undertale's biggest strength is the amount of depth the developers took in every single detail of the game. Even several months later after the game's release, there are still details about the game's world and story that people are just now finding, because of the sheer amount of care each little detail is given. Its weakest link is definitely the gameplay, without a doubt. Like Christian said, it's not that hard. It's bullet-hell at its most basic, and the most difficult fights are still pretty much trivial to anyone experienced with that genre already. However, I think in a way, the strong soundtrack and story make up for the lack of satisfying gameplay. If you're into story-focused RPGs, Undertale is a game I'd recommend anyone play at least once. But if you're not really big into story, it might not be for you. Do I think Undertale deserves to be called a great game? Absolutely. Would I go out of my way to call it a masterpiece? Probably not.

The genius of “Hopes and Dreams” is that there is a similar song that is far less dramatic playing in ever memorable moment of the game, which means when you hear a more dramatic version it at the end, it floods you with memories of every moment of the game where it played

+HiddenSecret27 I also felt MGSV deserved the top spot because of the story behind the game really resonated with me. Konami completely disrespecting Kojima, who has worked tirelessly for them for so many years. You see the same thing happening everywhere. Take my mom who's a teacher, the government is shoving veteran teachers out of the system, taking their benefits, dissolving their unions, and leaving them with virtually nothing in return for a lifetime of service. Take myself. Obviously I'm not anywhere near as essential as a teacher or a Kojima, but I spent a lot of years on League of Legends and Riot showed me out the door without a moment's hesitation. Instead of respecting the old players and adding depth to the systems, they made it easier for kids because that's where the money is. (Riot also literally sold out last year to Chinese company Tencent, who owns them entirely now). All the people with power would rather make money instead of anything of actual value. Metal Gear 5 unfortunately doesn't address these issues, but it's such a bold move for an established franchise to make something completely different in a market dominated by clone-ware mediocrity. Kojima's risks may have cost him his job, but he has created something of actual value and now he's assembling a new team just like Big Boss. Fuck you Konami.

I have played earlier versions of mgs and i absolutely loved them just as i loved ssb melee and despite nintendo's choice to not have a multiplayer like system in those games, they still are very good games
