I own the full size version of the 535Q and this sounds exactly the same, but both the frequency selector and volume boost are operable with the foot on the big one. So IMO there's a clear case for each: if you're gigging and really need the extra space on your board, you'd want the mini, because you probably have a better boost solution and probably won't switch the frequency mid-song. It might also be safer as the boost switch on the big one is easy to accidentally toggle without realizing it. OTOH for practicing in the bedroom or playing in the studio, you might spend hours at a time on the wah and you'll get tired of leaning over every time you want to adjust it. Plus you'll probably appreciate the larger footprint. And, if you're into tinkering, it's easier to work on the big one. Someday I'd like to put a dynacomp in mine and hook up the two pots to it.

Can the boost be used without engaging the wah?
@BlueStratDude Жыл бұрын
@@TheHalyem No, unfortunately not. I never really use the boost, however if it's switched on, you can get boost + wah just by clicking the wah on. I could see that being useful if you find the need in your playing.

When you dial this pedal in, it's pretty wicked with a good distortion. Sounds wicked through the insane preset on my Line 6 Spider V 20 practice amp. Still have yet to try it out on my Marshall with some distortion. The tonal quality is right up there with the Dimebag Wah and some of those other signature wah Pedals that have that wide sweep.

I just got one of these through the door and personally I'm the hugest fan, though I love the concept and it does have tonal versatility for sure. However I just far prefer the sound of my modded Vox v845 and also the feel of a full size one, here's why - I find that the pivot point kind of weird, the travel on the heel side seems to have quite alot of depth to it which takes some getting used to, I mean it is hilariously small afterall, but you've really got to get your foot just right, it may prove annoying when going from shoe to shoe. Tonally, I could find a range that I liked but towards the top end with high gain it was almost always notably shrill and brash depsite my efforts to adjust the Q. The boost switch is handy but can also be a burden as like most wahs when gain is applied you can get squeal when turning on. Overall its an impressive little pedal with a lot of features for your money and until you get one in your hands you won't believe how small they really are. Personally I'll be sticking with my regular sized wah but if I travelled a lot or needed the compact format for whatever reason I wouldn't look elsewhere.

I've the big one version, that boost makes my (germanium) Catalinbread Karma Suture a hell of a gated fuzz when I kick it in, with the option to "shape" the cliping response as I use my foot. I think Dunlop should make standard pedal of the 535Q, like EHX's Cock Fight.

Sounds great. I might need to pick up one of these. I wonder how they compare to other mini wahs.

Hey Andy, I have the original 535Q. Is there a difference between the original and the Mini, other than it being more compact and all the controls are on the side now? Is it worth buying other than saving on space?

After all these years, still no status LED for just turning the thing on.
@stevethebeeline445 жыл бұрын
There an LED on/off indicator on the right side of the pedal just below the input jack. Probably harder to see initially as On/Off lights are usually front and centre on Wah's.

If you aren't married to the mini pedal, they crybaby from hell is pretty close to the same wah with led indicators pretty visable on the back of the pedal.

Perhaps anyone of you good people can advise on an issue I've been having with one of these. Just bought the 535Q, tried it out, worked perfectly fine. Then tried it again a day later and for some reason, when it's not engaged, it completely cuts the signal to the amp so can't hear anything and when it's engaged, the signal is turned on but it won't wah at all, tried the various knobs but nothing works. Any ideas?
