You should go further into the Summer palace. There is a big lake, stone boat and huge bridge. Very beautiful scene.
3:48 The Garden was built by the royal family and that was the replication of the streets and water channel from the southern part of China at that time because the Emperor love the southern China scenery so much. He even arrange some people to pretend the ordinary people in the street while he was visiting. You can call it's a Southern China Theme Park few hundred years ago.

In order to maintain the best views from the highest part of the Summer Palace, in the 1980s the Beijing government did not allow buildings higher than 60 meters to be built near the Summer Palace and also not allow buildings that were not in harmony with the style of the Summer Palace, today there is no longer such a prohibition, but architects still adhere to such principles.

I have volunteered at the Summer Palace a couple of times, and because many of the other volunteers are elderly people and don't speak English, so they need English-speaking volunteers like us to communicate with foreign tourists. Of course there are many tourists who get lost because they leave through a different exit, so it is our job to show them the fastest way out the Summer Palace!

Many foreigners have no enough concept of the scale of Chinese things, and railway stations and scenic spots are easy places to make mistakes. Of course, they may simply dislike so many people, It's okay to speak out, we don't like it too!🤣 By the way, July to September is the summer vacation time in China. You will see more people because students are on holiday. You need to plan your time better. Good luck.

Yes, so many foreigners underestimate the scale of Chinese things. You should do more research and plan your time better. To be honest, I have watched a lot of videos about foreigners traveling in China, only this couple with basic respect for China, without saying "I thought there was something wrong with China, I didn't expect China to be so good." I feel that the bloggers who say such things are biased against China before they come here and feel that it is not so good, so the expectations are also low. Nor have they always emphasized how much they like China, to make a comparison, "China is good in a certain aspect, and a certain country is bad in this aspect." . This is very good, foreigners do not need to love this country, as long as they break the prejudice, harvest a wonderful journey, and will share with their family and friends to introduce China, it is enough.
