One of the coldest players ever, he was cocky as fuck but he backed it up. Very complete player, Olympic speed in his prime, physically strong, great ball control, effortless dribbling, one of the best finishers ever but also dangerous from long range at the same time, great passers, he has the premier league record for most assists in one season, even though he was mainly known as a scorer and not a Playmaker, he was always smooth and composed. He was the type of striker that even legendary defenders were afraid of, he had that kind of effect on defenders. He's widely regarded as the greatest premier league player in modern history and one of the top 5 strikers in football history, unstoppable in his prime.

Henry is the best striker in premier league history. For me he’s the only player where for a solid 5 years I was actively scared to see him against my team. Absolute assassin man, he was going to score it just didn’t matter. And the thing is look where he’s collecting the ball… half of these clips start with him near the half way line running into / past 2-3 players. Violent baller.

I'm a die hard Arsenal fan and Ti-Ti and the whole invincibles squad was the reason I fell in love with football and Arsenal... Henry is BY FAR the best striker in Premier League history... absolutely lethal scorer and on top of that a better passer and dribbler than any other Striker EPL has ever seen... Henry is seen as less than Messi and Ronaldo only because he was playing for Arsenal and not Real Madrid or Barca (he went to Barca after serious injury and he wasn't top form Henry anymore)... I've always said that Henry and Totti are the two most disrespected players of my generation because they played for their teams their whole career (well, almost all of it for Henry since he did move eventually near the end) but both of them were so much more talented and so much better players than all the superstars of their time that played the same position... I don't see why Ronaldo "Fenomeno" was a better player than Henry for example... yes, he was a beast before the injuries but so was Henry... Ronaldo was just more flashy and jaw dropping with his dribbles... or why Zidane was better than Totti (short answer, he wasn't... just played for better teams... Totti was a better and more creative passer and a waaaaaaaaaaaay better finisher than any attacking midfielder I've ever seen) I can talk about Henry for hours... the guy was pure joy to watch... they don't build Strikers like him anymore with all the big club academies that don't let the kids be creating and just "put them in a system"... Strikers nowadays can barely dribble... they call Mbappe a dribbler ffs and all he has is speed and a decently good fake-dribble... Henry was 10 times the player Mbappe is right now, not even f-ing close... plus Henry had that insane supreme confidence in his game that characterizes the GREAT players... you couldn't make him fear you... you only feared him... the moment he touched the ball your legs were already shaking... Have a good year and keep enjoying the beautiful game 😁

Thierry Henry was most definitely a showboater and a elite dribbler he just had the productivity to go with it. The thing you need to understand about Henry. Was that, in his prime he was more than goalscoring striker. For example in Henry's best ever season in the Premier League he had amassed 20 assists despite not being a Playmaker! For context, It's been 19 seasons, the English game seems be more attacking/open and nobody has broken his record. There are only 2 weaknesses of Henry's game. The first being that he was somewhat poor in the air for someone 6ft2. The second being that he had a reputation of not being a "clutch" player as he had 0 goals in 9 cup finals. Overall thou his pros massively outweigh his cons. For me he was easily one of the best players in his generation despite the fact he never won the Ballon d'Or(got robbed). Which is crazy as the generation Henry played had for more world class players than today's game imo.
@jokeralarms8492 жыл бұрын
Great points, however the 0 in 9 finals narrative is very subjective when you amount goals as overall performances which it isn’t. Furthermore context should be applied as well, as in 2000 euros final against the colossal Italy defence, Henry was initially awarded the MOTM. Galatasary 2000 decent game, could’ve scored and put it on a plate for keown who missed an open goal. UCL 2006 missed a guilt edged chance but got the assist and ran his socks off as Arsenal were a man down. 2006 WC final he was concussed due to a snide foul by cannavaro, yet got the pre assist which Malouda won the pen. 2001 fa cup was underwhelming although their defender handled the ball on the line and should’ve been sent off. 2003 fa cup final he was cash money, quality performance. So overall there’re criticisms in some finals but the 0 in 9 narrative is a weak and an acute argument to put forward without applying context. The term ‘clutch’ is also misconstrued in only being finals, which IMO is false. An example of clutch is the unbeaten streak being on the line vs LFC and Henry dragging his team to victory. That’s clutch
@-_-DatDude2 жыл бұрын
@@jokeralarms849 Yeah that's a very well written post Joker, I could do you one better and make an argument that one of the most iconic clutch goals I've seen of the past decade was the Aguero against QPR which was in the Premier League... Not a cup competition. *THAT* Aguero goal was agonising and still is to some extent as a Man Utd fan. So yeah, I hear what you saying bro "clutch" isn't as cut and dry as I initially implied it was. Just a FYI, I don't necessarily agree with the narrative completely as Thierry did turn up in loads of big games against us and against other big teams like Real Madrid and whatnot. So the "clutch" aspect for me is a bit iffy and I am more in the middle tbh. More often than not it was the supporting cast like Lehmann having a moment of madness or something else that would be talking points of said finals but yeah I thought I would still include it as a flaw, as whilst I personally don't agree, the narrative of Thierry Henry never scoring in a single final in his career is still there. Like I said thou even if he wasn't clutch he still goes down as one of the best in a generation that is stacked to the brim of world class players. There's no such thing as perfection after all lol.
@jokeralarms8492 жыл бұрын
@@-_-DatDude Spot on, couldn’t have summed it up better. It’s the fact that the 0 in 9 finals/Henry being a ‘big game bottler’ all started from a naive chelsea fan on the bird app couple yrs back which was blown out of proportion and now you see uneducated football fans deliberately use it as a stick to beat him with. The 2006 year for him was cruel, within weeks of losing out on the UCL and WC, ironically being soo close in winning both. Heading wasn’t his forte, although marking his moment against your team(Utd I assume) at the emirates.

Henry was just in a league of his own... he's just underrated because he left his beloved Arsenal way too late in his career and he didn't sell out to play for the most "marketable" teams like UEFA Madrid and UEFAlona in his prime (he did go to Barca but way too late in his career... he was barely the same player anymore and had a serious lower back injury that slowed him down a lot) Henry is easily the best player in EPL history... lethal scorer, way better passer than Ronaldo or Suarez or any other striker or big goal scorer for that matter, amazing dribbler... and also the first ever "False 9" striker which is so annoying that Pep and Messi claim that title because Wenger and Henry were using the False 9 strategy waaaaaay before Pep thought to do it with Messi... Striker is about how far up the pitch you play as well as scoring goals. Like Zidane , Marradona, Gerrard, Scholes all scored goals but were midfielders more than Forwards , so some "goal scorers" are not Strikers, but they usually are, Henry was. All Strikers are Forwards, but not all Forwards are Strikers, Messi is not really a Striker although he is a Forward and a Goal Scorer. A Striker players usually Central (sometimes slightly to the left or right, left in Henry's case) and is the furthest player up the pitch in your starting or Defensive formation (the shape the team tries to be in when they dont have the ball, when you win the ball back of course now you are attacking so it becomes the starting formation for attack too) In Football you have Goalkeepers Defenders (Includes Center Backs, Fullbacks, and Wing Backs) Midfielders (Includes Defensive Mids, Box to box Mids, Attacking mids, Wingers, No10's, different types of playmaker midfielder ) Forwards (Includes, Wing Forwards, Center Forwards, Strikers, Second Strikers a.k.a "False 9's") A common Formation is 433 - which means 4 defenders, 3 Midfielders and 3 Forwards but you can have others 442, 451, 352, 361, 4231 (where the 2,3 means 2 defensive mids, and the 3 means 1 central attacking mid/number10 and 2 wingers who play wide and far up the pitch, Like WIng Forwards, but a Wingers job is more to create goals rather than score them like the WIng Forward) Wing Forwards - Mo Salah is a WIng Forward, usually fast , great dribblers , tricky players Center Forward- Lewandowski is a center forward usually strong and good all round game and usually good in the air Strikers- Usually the best at finishing fast and skill full, or at least have a really good touch Second Striker/False 9- Messi These are almost like no 10's but further up the pitch, they are not as far up the pitch as a normal striker, link play more and look to dribble into the goal scoring spaces rather than receive the ball in those places (like a normal striker or Center Forward does) These are simple breakdowns but I am missing out so many sub types of each of these, and also the blur between Center Forwards and Strikers, because certain players are kind of both , but some are very much one and not the other, Like Aguero is a Striker, but not a Center Forward. Cristioan Ronaldo is a Striker, and a Center Forward and used to be a Wing Forward, Messi is NOT a Striker, he s NOT a Center Forward but is a Second Striker /false 9 and used to be a WIng Forward. Henry Is a Center Fowrard , and also a kind of Wing Forward and you would have to say a Striker too I hope this makes sense. The problem is sometimes the terms are used incorrectly and also each of them has areas where they meet so you get players (usually quite good ones) that can play in 2 or more of these positions, sometimes even in every types (Steven Gerrard springs to mind, Box to Box Midfielder, but could play in Defence, Midfield and Forward, so you end up asking yourself "so what position is he?" lool)

You asked the question was he doing that regularly. I can answer from watching him play way before he turned pro. I grew up in Les Ulis and Thierry's parents were my neighbours therefore I'm more entitled to give you my opinion on his evolution as a player. Thierry always had technique in him but the most predominant characteristics of his game was the speed of execution and the precision of his final ball delivery. He used to tear defenders from the wing that's where he started his professional career as a winger and that's why he takes on players. People give props to Wenger for developing him but I'd say Jean Tigana at Monaco has more to claim for helping with changing his mentality into a more predatory instincts. Yes Thierry never dropped below 7/10 rating in games. Legend of the game

You guys gotta go over the positions. For each position there’s a “type” of playstyles that you can be. If you guys play fifa you’ll learn REALLY quick by looking at player stats, positions, and how it influences the game. Just like 2K where’s there’s hella “build types”, there’s even more for football because there’s more positions.

He was the coolest cat in football. He was also teammates with Messi and the 2008-09 Barcelona team , might be the greatest club team of all time , they were so dominant. Won every trophy , a front three of Thierry Henry , Eto and Messi being fed passes by Xavi and Iniesta. It was basically a dream team.

You gotta know, France had this guy Henry and Zidane ...in the same team (as well as Petite, Viera, Dessailly, Pires all amazing legend status players)
@zobbilamouche13022 жыл бұрын
i'm missing this team so bad. I was a teenager at that time and as a french i can tell you the 98 French national team inspires so many kids here, it was a dream team. Between Henry Trezeguet Anelka Djorkaeff we had so many offensive threats, Viera Petit Zidane in the midfield (then Makélelé later), and a top defense with Desailly Blanc Thuram Lizarazu Barthez... What a legendary team. And as unbelievable the World Cup win in 2018 was, nothing would ever replace the 98/2000 France squad in my heart

Henrys dribbling was elite but he didn't need to use many skills, he would mainly get passed players with his speed, agility, smart thinking and close control. Didnt use alot of skills.

Guys you HAVE to react to "Steven Gerrard- A Complete Midfielder" Apart from Zidane you haven't done a Midfirlder and this will give you a great perspective about the many duties of a Midfielder and they shoe how the player called Steven Gerrard excels at all of them hence why is debt as the "complete midfielder".

22:00 yeh You get that in football too Drogba, Battistuta , Ibrahimovic all love/loved the Bully ball style, So Big Center Forwards/Strikers, do that Power Foward type thing, the Shaq approach, run over them with a Truck who can finish basically. Henry was not a Bully ball style player...BUT he was strong and hold others off the ball. You do have some 1 on 1 stuff in Football, "Man Marking" which is based on 1 on 1 can work and is a style that is used to defend, but there is usually a blend of Zonal and sometimes a man will be put on a star player to mark /defend them out of the game. But sometimes you get entire teams do it (and it used to be the standard approach only 20 years ago)

Context is super important. I wish you guys understood the magnitude of some of these clips. He's toying with some of the greatest defenders of all time like they're nothing. This man was once labeled the Michael Jordan of football. Absolutely unplayable. And to answer your question - Yes he is toying with them. He had the demeanor of a thief who was so smooth that you'd know what was coming but still couldn't stop it. As many would say.. "The game was over before it began."

Beautiful just beautiful, on the minute 15 of the video there were some beautiful “sombreros” performed, that’s how we call the play when you hit the ball over someone’s head, in my book that’s even worse than when they pass the ball between your legs! Personal opinion!
@Jerellaj2 жыл бұрын
He was the striker for the only team to get the invincible title (no loses in Premier league (Hardest league) season). Greatest Prem Striker ( yes including CR7) Fun fact: in either Fifa or PES or both he had 99 finishing lmao the man was a joke even game developers maxed out his stats

Him and Zidane beat and knock out my favorite Brazilian team in 2006 world cup , man I hated them for while. But man Henry is one of the best striker and legend in the game.
@lethalchocobo18862 жыл бұрын
Great reaction. Henry was one of the best strikers of his generation and arguably the best foreign player in the english Premier League history. He belonged to the new breed of strikers like G.Weah, brazilian Ronaldo who dropped deep (sometimes from the half-line) to start their runs. Fast, skilled, composed in front of the goal and clinical in his finishing, not a great heading ability though. His passing ability made added a crucial string to his bow and allowed to also play as a winger. Won everything at a club and national level and crucial player along with Zidane, of the great french teams of 1998-2006. He was a big part of the Arsenal (London) team which was known for its beautiful, intricate football and Manchester United's greatest rival in the 90's-begin of the 00's. They went to win the english Premier League unbeaten in the 2003-04 season and were nicknamed The Invincibles. A feat which hasn't been replicated to this day. You can't speak of Henry at Arsenal without thinking of Dennis Bergkamp. Nicknamed the Iceman, he was a Zidane like playmaker/second striker, operating just behind Henry: cool as hell, with an insane first touch, great finish and phenomenal passing. An absolute genius and a legend of the game. I urge you to react to this video, you won't regret it: Dennis Bergkamp - The Legend of the Iceman: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpLZfJWIhahskJo

For the fall thing it depends, in basketball its much more noticeable and players dont fall that often, its usually after an ankle breaker or cross etc. But in football its different, first its a sport with much more contact than basketball, players are constantly under pressure from the other team so when they fall after an aerial duel for example its not much of a deal but now if you fall after getting dribbled, tackled or nutmegged then its humiliating

@@dunsonhouse especially when you get crossed. When someone makes you turn twice and your legs tangle that’s the one where everyone goes mad. Usually the player gets twisted up so bad their legs cross and that’s why they fall
