Did this in 2017 and watching has made me want to do it again. Managed to ride back to Norwich after but stopped at Beccles for breakfast and was slow going. Not to mention the overwhelming desire to find a nap spot near Loddon.

Well done James for cycling back to Norwich after! I was too tired! 😴 Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Late to comment here but just to say i thoroughly enjoyed this video of the Dun Run. Ive done the Dun 5 times and employed various methods and strategies. The most amusing was in 2019 with two of my sons, one of whom commutes 6 miles each way to and fro to work on my old 'cross bike. As he didnt have time to get any further training in he went flat out every commute. Worked in his case as he was fresh as a daisy at the end. A must for any keen cyclist as its a unique experience

It's never too late to comment or watch my videos! Thanks for taking time to write. 5 times is an excellent effort. Bravo to you and your sons. ATB 🚴🏼👍🏻

Great vid and brought back some fantastic memories. 2014 was my first and only Dun Run and it is still one of my favourite memories on the bike. The stream of red lights out of Epping forest will forever be etched in my mind! Well done 👍

Hi Andrew, been watching a few of your vids - really like having them on whilst having a coffee after a ride. I'm a fellow Norfolkian so have been enjoying seeing some of the same sights. This one makes me want to try the dynamo, if I can get my comrades to join me. Love the bikepacking vids too. Keep them going 👍

Correction: the idea is to get to Dunwich. Sunrise doesn't matter. I've done the ride something like 10 times in the past 14 years and my earliest arrival was 7.30am in (I think) 2008. Mostly I arrive about lunchtime these days. I've missed out in the past 2 years but hope to do it again next year.

Good video though. Made me feel quite jealous.

@@essexbybike5352 I stand corrected! Well done on your efforts. I loved it. And maybe an easier pace to arrived for lunch would be a good idea next time! Thanks for watching I appreciate it

Great videos as usual! im biking weavers way soon from cromer to Great Yarmouth, once i get there i want to carry on down to southwold is there anywhere between yarmouth and southwold you would recommend staying (wild camp) before my trip home (west suffolk) the next day thanks liam
@divum3 жыл бұрын
Hi Liam, thanks for watching. You could consider the beach south of Lowestoft, particularly Covehithe, although you may see others doing the same there! Just inland from Covehithe are some rewilded fields or the woods due south you could try. Alternatively perhaps the woods NW of Dunwich. 👍🏼

Great video, its a ride I would like to do, looks fun, I was watching another KZbinrs video about it who did it this year he had cycled from Lincolnshire with a group following the Geenwich Meridian

Hello Michael, thank you for your support. 👍🏼👍🏼, I saw something similar, a straight line south to London. Interesting. All the best 🚴🏼♂️

Interested that you took your bike on the train from Norwich. I've been put off by their booking requirement, where they state that there are only four spaces on a train. I used to just get on the train and put the bike in the guard's van. Never a problem, but now, weekdays anyhow, mid morning, it can be full. I suspect people book for a few stops and the system thus allocates the whole journey, as the system does not operate any more finely. Why they can't just let us on if there's space, I do not know. ;)
@divum3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Absolutely. The booking process for Greater Anglia is not fit for purpose. It requires a separate phone call and you eventually get an email, a day later. The issue is compounded if the service is Intercity or standard rolling stock. On this occasion I was the only bike the whole way. (Please consider subscribing) 👍🏼

I’ve done the Dun 4 times (‘96, ‘97, ‘10 and ‘14) and never managed to see sunrise from the beach. Why rush? 🙂 Plans with friends to do it again in ‘22. Take care.

Completely agree! Why rush. For us, it was an extra challenge 👍🏼🚴🏼♂️🌞

I did the 5th edition in 1997 but started at midnight I’d come down from Liverpool straight after my night shift, with a cycling made tho he took off like a bat out of hell never saw him again till the Finnish, I hadn’t a clue we’re it went no map but got in with a group of lads who had done a few times before .the food was payed for in advance , and a breakfast at the end and a a buss laced on for you and your bike back to London I finished 18th .

Great video, so inspiring I’ve put next years Dun Run on my list to do. What front light/s would you recommend for an all night ride like the Dun Run?
@divum3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gaz. Thanks for watching. When buying a bike lamp/light, choose one with a high lumen value. I used the Halford 1000 Lumen which retails at £40 but can be cheaper if bought with a rear light. This is quite economical. It also has a USB port so it can be used as a power bank! Mine lasted all night (7 hours) but stopped as I arrived at Dunwich! All the best. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I love coming round the corner at Moreton and seeing the road completely full of cyclists at the White Hart. That's really the start of the ride for me. Epping Road is just awful, always had been.
