I know that im no expert RC Pilot , but i have flown more than 50 different planes and a good few helicopters so at this stage i should have a reasonable grasp of how to fly most aircraft. This AutoGyro has me stumped. The first crash i put down to using too much aileron throws, even though i didnt recall doing that, however as we all know in the heat of the moment maybe our fingers have other planes, lol. Big thanks to so many of you that have offered advice on what i may be doing wrong so this video is the second attempt at flying very gently, using as little aileron input as possible and just getting comfortable with the controls. The first few minutes are promising until i notice a habit forming that will show itself in the next few videos that i have on this issue - thats where the V2 seems to develop some type of gyroscopic force that no amount of stick input can compensate for.
At the time of the crash i was flying on approx 75% throttle and had been steering mainly with rudder but a point came when she did not respond to any inputs. Just to eliminate transmission problems i will swap out the receiver, but i dont think that is the problem . It will become more evident in the next video when the V2 passes nearby and decides to implement the 'slow roll of death'. You will be able to see her slowly banking to the left and importantly it should show the ailerons completely positioned opposite to the roll in my attempts to compensate - to no avail.
I confirm correct centre of gravity - no dislodged internals - balanced blades - very little aileron throw - i understand that in some of these 'crash' videos it looks like im using excessive inputs but i can confirm that i am not doing that, so i would appreciate all guidance possible from my fellow friends - Big Thanks

Hey buddy, big thanks for your support. Sometimes it feels like we are out there flying solo but your words make it feel a lot more like a bunch of us together ,trying to figure it all out 😂😎

Getting disoriented is the main reason for crashing these. I had the previous version and it was so frustrating. You want to keep it high but that actually makes it harder to see, especially when it going away from you. I feel for you bud.

you can use a receiver that has stablization function. almost crash proof!

It was good to see you have some success. The tree crash sucked. Perhaps you need to keep it closer to you? Most videos I have watched of the G2V2 people do not fly it as far away as you do.

Solid advice - thanks, but would you believe I had actually been trying to get her to turn much sooner, it’s part of my problem with it that I seem to be fighting to control how it flies 😅

I am sure you will get it to fly with more control someday soon. Until then look forward to more video's@@rcpilots1291

@@rcpilots1291 I know B-all about rotary wing planes Dave but maybe you would be better relying on the rudder for turns rather than throwing in excessive aileron. After all the rotor disc will have considerably less area exposed to the oncoming air as you tilt it in an aileron turn if it's sluggish to turn.

@@theoztreecrasher2647that’s rock solid advice buddy, but would you believe I’m not using aileron, rates are set to just 30%, it actually seems to bank hard WITHOUT my stick input, the next few flight videos will show this better - there’s clearly a mini pilot on board with his own plans haha

Good job! Did you calibrate the esc? I never used full throttle on mine. And mine wasn’t twitchy. Are your throws by the book? Did you use any expo?
@rcpilots1291
@rcpilots1291 8 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for helping. I didn’t calibrate the esc as it seemed to have a good range in rpm’s, the first battery was low on current.the throws were by the book but I’ve reduced the aileron a lot on low rates and kept it at max for high rates incase of emergency ( a lot of good that did - haha) and I was using a lot of expo but I’ve also reduced that incase it was slowing down my response to pitch changes. On this video it is not obvious but my problem usually seems to be that the aircraft begins some type of torsional / gyroscopic roll to the left that cannot be recovered from. I don’t understand this because I’m pretty comfortable flying helis with gyro disengaged in order to do mild acrobatics( I’m no expert- just average) and I’m pretty comfortable handling planes including edf’s so my instincts should not be letting this happen. Servos and crevices are secure, but I’m wondering if there is a bit too much play in the rotor head due to the flexi shaft that comes from the starter motor…? All guidance and advice is really appreciated because I understand that it should be a docile, gentle ( and fun) flyer 😅

@@rcpilots1291Sadly, I am stumped, I wish I was closer to try to fly yours and see what is going on, mine is such an easy sunday flyer, is your CG modified? I wish I was more help, but mine flew out of the box so easily.

What if you tried a motor that spins the opposite direction? Maybe some dihedral on the tail would give it better odds

Keep it 'flat' no banked turns, use a bit of rudder, I have the first version with no spin up motor, and It does fly better on a 2 bladed prop.
