Another 'day out' with this unique flyer!!! This time I have some flying success, but also a big failure. Unlike previous flights/crashes where the aircraft seemed to just fly beyond its limits, regardless of my stick inputs,
this time however it was easy to analyse what went wrong - pure pilot error. On approach to landing i flew too close to myself and overcompensated with elevator causing the craft to lose momentum and stall, by the time it had flown past me it was too late to correct as it had commenced a severe stall turn, leading to the inevitable crash. There are more videos to follow of subsequent crashes which i cannot explain. The next day out resulted in a straight nose dive into the ground, it occurred about one football field length from me so the best i can guess is perhaps a radio error, so i swapped out the receiver and did some other minor adjustments. The next next day out was another short flight in near perfect flying conditions, she adopted a right bank angle that i could not apply enough counter aileron movement, resulting in another crash (on board videos to follow - time permitting) . At this stage I am despairing somewhat , due to the endless repairs and blade replacements etc. All advice would be appreciated . I am inclined to think that c. of g. is probably an issue with this as forums suggest that the craft maybe a bit tail heavy and perhaps pilots should be looking at a greater tilting angle, definitely in excess of the recommended 3-5 degrees below horizon.

I was very happy for you till the landing. You seem to finally have good control of it. Relaxed flying is the key as you stated. I have watched many videos and have other KZbin friends ho own them and love them, I even ordered one for myself. I do like the Hi-Vis you did and will do mine In Hi-Vis Yellow and Black accents.At thos point new blades are a must and I will order a few extra sets when they get in stock.. Hi buddy, thank you for those kind words. Best of luck with your flying and colour scheme, black & yellow sounds great, spare blades definitely and some people are recommending just using one screws and a toothpick in the second slot to help reduce blade damage, also or looks like it maybe tail heavy so you might need to put weight in the front. I have an Auto-G2 version-one with an autostart replacement machine unflown and still in it's box and a broken one in my loft after breaking three sets of blades. As commented and seen in the video, the stall is abrupt and unrecoverable. This is because the advancing side of the rotor disc is flying faster than the retreating side of the disc and it is the retreating side of the disc that stalls first so that the autogyro will always fall to that side. Magazine articles on Autogyros warn about not flying too far away, and I also found orientaion difficult at distance, so the hi-vis scheme is a great addition. As a mainly fixed wing flyer, I didn't use enough rudder during my failed flights, so will do some simulator practice before I try again. Good luck.

Best of luck Jim, I’d love to know how you get on. Definitely keep aileron rates down and watch out for a tail heavy plane that might need some weight up front

LOL! I generally usually buy 2 of most of my (cheapy-type) foamies, Dave. That way by the time I learn to fly them correctly I can switch to the pristine 1 and scrap its mate with all the bog and bandaids on it! 😉 Just repairing the XK X450 Multi today (which I've just about got the limits of worked out 😱) and was lucky enough to score a sale price unit that's worth more than the cost of replacement parts and battery. 😊

Oh, and if you'd like to try it for real, a friend has 1 (literally) buried in his backyard from his Ultra-light flying days. Bring your own backhoe! His dear old Mum (and common sense) dictated the funeral of the remains. 😜😁

Man, you had it!!! I dont understand how it rolled inverted, did you hold full aileron into it? Great video.

Hi John, ya it was the best effort yet, but to be fair - this was complete error on my part, I over compensated with elevator as it approached me, causing the stall. My bad this time , all of the other times I cannot explain

you may try using a receiver with auto stablizing function. That should minimize the chances of crashing.
