Did you guys happen to have any machine work done on the heads? Or did you just pull them off and put them back on?

Technically I actually cranked it for like 3 minutes more, and had to bleed the fuel system 4 more times before it fired 😂

I'm not used to diesels, that is a really strange setup. Looked like there is a crossbar between both sets of valves, and each crossbar is acted on by a single rocker. That much have some massive pressure on that rocker, it looked like it had a long ratio on top of pushing down on 2 valves at once. I suppose valvetrain mass isn't much of a concern for a low-rpm engine. That strange lash sequence - I'm guessing it's to adjust only the rockers that are on or close to the base circle of the cam?

Interesting, no adjustment for the crossheads on the valves.....was used to setting those before valve clearances on a larger diesel engine during an overhead set.

Mark, I'll be honest, I've never heard that term "crossheads" in my life. I had to look it up to see what it meant! LOL. No heavy equipment for me thanks!

@@ReignitedAuto all the 4 valve HD diesels that I'd worked on had a crossover bar between the set of intake or exhaust valves, with an adjuster screw on them to center the crosshead on the shaft and valves. Great video on the Duramax top end refresh! Lot of work!

Hey buddy, continue doing what you do great info for us D.I.YERS. I HAVE A QUESTION, i have a 09 dodge charger hemi police pursuit. I'm trying to move the column shifter to a center console shifter, need some guidance on where would I get an compatible shifter for this change, what year would this 09 police pursuit with the auto shifter

That's a NAG trans in the pursuit vehicle. It's the same shifter assembly that comes in 300's you could use one of those for the switch. However, there are a lot of wiring harness differences between the two, and I think it's more trouble than it's worth to change it all over.

@@ReignitedAuto really appreciate your response, it's something I always wanted to tackle though. Maybe I could find the wiring schematics for that conversion online

@@andrewdouglas2609 it's definitely possible, because everything is. You would also have to replace the body control module, and likely the pcm as they both communicate differently with the two different styles of shifter.
