In Alaska I had a shop retorque a cylinder head on the Duce and a half I drove in the Army and they said they didn’t have to adjust the valves because they didn’t touch them. I was a major assembly mechanic state side and went to the Shop Foreman and got them straightened out.

Basically it same principle when you're doing a small or big block chevrolet, it's just a diesel instead of gas. But it's awesome information to know!!

Once adjusting all valves due to red/yellow procedures and aligning the timing marks should all valves/rockers have .12 or should some have 12 cus the other ones have a little pressure on them?

I forgot the dowel for the rocker arms on both sides I put about 400 miles on like that with no issue should I rear it back down and put those in? I know it’s lined up good and torqued correctly..

SO, once you adjust the valves, then do the 10 revolutions, if you have to adjust the valves a little more do you do 10 more revs and check again?

It won’t hurt to do it a second time but once is the preferred

To perform valve lash adjustment on an LBZ is it required to pull both upper and lower valve covers or can you get it with just the top off

I did dad's LB7 truck a bit different. I rotated the engine till the one valve on the engine was fully depressed, and adjusted the other valve on that cylinder. I also adjusted the valves to 0.010". Seems to have quieted the engine down, more power, and it's doing a fair bit better on fuel. Good video, none the less.

seeing how the lash went out of spec after turning over 10 revolutions, i wonder if anyone has tried turning it over 10 more times to see if it stays in spec?

So, i just did head gaskets on a lly. Do i mess with anything before i bolt and torque my valve assembly back on, or do i just bolt it back up the way i took it off, and then adjust valves?

@@marshallmclaughlin1214 I've done 3 sets of head gaskets, and replaced head on another. Bolt head on and adjust valves. Pretty straight forward. I did ARP head studs and it came with a sheet showing torque sequence.

So, the only time you need to adjust the valves is when you pull the head, or is this a maintenance procedure after so many miles 🤷‍♂️, Thanks Ryan, or Josh, wait who made this video 👍

Valve lash changes by miles. On a high mile truck, it is good to adjust the valves. If you have an LB7, it is a good idea to adjust the valves if you change injectors.

I made the video Ryan did the talking 😂👍 but you need to do this after you install the heads, but it’s always a good idea to do this if the covers are off
