Duramax starting problem

Today on Detail is Retail working on the 2005 Duramax. Was having trouble starting then the truck was hot. Thought it was filter housing with hairline crack bring air, losing prime. But I believe it was just the filter.

No need to put diesel on the new fuel filter. Just open slightly the prime valve screw and then pump until fuel comes out from the prime screw. Major safety issue, never go under any vehicle just having the floor jack always place a jack stand for safety.. The floor jack hydraulic can release and the vehicle drops on you.

Never trust a floor jack☠️ jack stands will keep you alive an healthy replace vacuum lines and fuel lines all of them a lot of heat under them hoods

I had the same problem but it died in parking lot at Menards and it would not start had towed to brakes plus. Took all day but they replaced the fuel pump but it only got us home. Died again and would not start coworker is ordering a sending unit.

i see your coolant recovery tank is getting BLACK inside??? i think it exhaust fumes from a leaking Head Gasket like mine... are you starting to lose coolant??? how many miles on it.

My head gaskets are out now. This is the second time I believe. 320 thousand, it was like that when got the truck the coolant tank. So the replace job wasn't that great I have to say.

Maybe should of done it myself but maybe the fuel pump wasn't the problem for me because brakes plus replaced it for $1,200.00 and it worked until we got home and then would not start again.

My truck a 05 lly started do the same thing you described and I wound up needn injectors

I don't need them yet. Lost prime from the poor quality of the filter gasket

The problem was fix it I’m having a problem with my lly 04 duramax you have the part number for the housing

Replace your fuel filter first before you do anything.

Did you check the fuel lines going to cp3 make sure there no cracks in the where air can get in.

Next thing is check the filter house for cracks or if the seals are leaking air by.

Yeah, I ended up replacing them. I didn't buy 4 hundred aftermarket replacements. I just got the best fuel injection line I could get. It seem to be working.
