Make Me Smile (Come Up & See Me) - this has to be Duran's best ever B-side! Bought the hit single (The Reflex) back in the days of vinyl records and it was the first time I ever found myself playing the B-side as much as the A-side! I'm 64 now and still a Durannie to this day. Have seen them live a few times -:the first time was at The Queen's Hall in Leeds in 1978, then at Leeds Direct Arena during the Paper Gods tour and again at Leeds Direct Arena in 2023. They never fail to turn in a great perfotmance. Duran have grown musically and I've grown with them❤

when they did their last show of this tour in birmingham, they brought Steve Harley up on stage with them to perform this. Such great memories of being a young school kid, skipping school to spend all day in Birmingham then going to see them in the evening. 'Cause I know what faith is and what it's worth Away, away And don't say maybe you'll try Oh, to come up and see me, to make me smile Or do what you want, just running wild Ooh, la la la Ooh, la la la Ooh Come up and see me, make me smile Or do what you want, running wild Ooh, la la la Ooh, la la la Ooh Come up and see me to make me smile

George: Even in how you phrased it, yours is a personal, biased based comment rather than an objective musical one. The guitar In this performance is awesome. All of the guys in Duran have said many times over the years that Andy was the guy with the musical ability, especially at that stage of their career. The others were giving it 100% but with limited technical ability. I miss the edge his guitar playing gave their music. Their music these days is too polished (and programmed). They're best with rough edges IMO.

Nearly all of their covers improve on the originals. This one brings me to tears for many reasons. Andy got to really shine here. I'm not knocking "their sound" in any way, because it's brilliant, but Duran Duran's not a band that shows off their guitarist very often. I hear how the backing vocals changed a lot without him too. And although I wish the original 5 were back together, I can understand why Andy left to pursue other projects.
