Their video for The Wild Boys was the first million dollar music video in history. I recommend the Long Arena Version, but your video editor will need to be on their toes for it. You'll see what I mean.

I really appreciate your comment about their artistry being ahead of it's time. You can't even imagine how right you are. I recommend you react to the live version of The Chauffeur from their concert film, As The Lights Go Down. A double whammy of visual and musical artistry gone wild.

John Taylor the one next to the lead singer on his left side of him had solo albums in the 90s and a solo single in 1985 called "I Do What I Do." Maybe you can react to that video next time! He also directed it!!!

When D'D' was nominated for the Rock Hall of Fame, I voted for them on the Fan Vote. I was a teen in the 80's, and a Guy, and yes, many Girls at my school were into D'D'. I realized this band did have some quality music, and they continued to perform, tour, record through the years. Solid talent, So, glad they got in the Hall.

John Taylor states that the bassline on Planet Earth was influenced by Phil Chen's bassline on Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." Chen created his iconic bassline when he was influenced by the theme song from the Lone Ranger TV series. It's a Matryoshka doll of sonic influences.

They are always creating new music and playing after 40 years.. they were wth 20-22yo, and now with 60s. They launched between the Future Past live tour, a Halloween album called Danse Macabre.. with three original songs and the others covers from their songs and other artists. I suggest Danse Macabre, Black Moonlight and Psycho Killer.

The band is in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. When the band started in 1978, John Taylor was 18-years-old & Nick Rhodes was 16-years-old. When Duran Duran's first single "Planet Earth" was released on February 2, 1981, John Taylor (bass) was 20, Nick Rhodes (keyboards) was 18, Roger Taylor (drums) was 20, Andy Taylor (guitars) was 19 & Simon Le Bon (vocals) was 22.

The second track on their first album. Fantastic stuff. First three albums with the OG lineup are gold. Don't care for anything else after. Well, the first track Notorious on the album by the same name itself isn't terrible, but after that nope.
@PjRjHj9 ай бұрын
"Seven and the ragged tiger" was weaker than the first two albums, but understandably as they'd been flat out for a couple years, and new wave was running out of steam. It's hard to calculate the loss of Andy and Roger mid 80s in conjunction with the fast evolving 80s pop scene and the band's own maturing. I think Roger leaving was the bigger of the changes as he was the foundation and had fantastic chemistry with John Taylor, nailing the rhythm section
@JOHNNYSGIRL19609 ай бұрын
Notorious was great, amazing, and a work of art. The only reason you don't like it is because Andy isn't there. His choice not theirs.
@EnervatedSociety9 ай бұрын
@@JOHNNYSGIRL1960 Na, I just don't like the songs on the album, but it's cool that you enjoy them. The only reason I brought up the OG line up is because apparently they made the songs I like. I didn't even know that until a decade + after the third album, at which time I decided to take a look. I have no attachment to them as people, and frankly their image was not and still isn't my thing. To me it's always about the music. Notorious is when the change in style happened and by the time they did Big Thing it sounded more like another band featuring Duran Duran. Plain and simple, I just don't like the music they started making after the third album. Had they kept making the same music with different personnel (obviously still with Simon Le Bon) chances are I would like it.
@billw7159 ай бұрын
@@JOHNNYSGIRL1960 Whether Andy Taylor leaving the band was "his choice and not theirs" has no relevance to anything just as Warren Cuccurullo being kicked out of Duran Duran has no relevance to anything.
@billw7159 ай бұрын
@@PjRjHj Roger & Andy leaving were enormously impactful. The band lost two of its songwriting team & John did lose that rhythm unit chemistry that he & Roger had created since 1979. In addition, Andy Taylor was the most experienced musician of the band & his knowledge of song structure and of theory was a huge loss. His guitar style also gave Duran Duran the edge that the band needed to become successful in the United States. His guitar work is what separated Duran Duran into another tier amongst the band's peers during the 1980s.
