Duran Duran performing at Live Aid in front of 100,000 people in the John F. Kennedy Stadium, Philadelphia USA on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

Great memory. I just loved DD In 1985 at age 20 and recall watching this live at house with friends. This is still great to see and hear in 2022. Pop music now is TERRIBLE and these guys worked hard and sounded great live. They really are good musicians!

The sound mix is horrible and Simon was obviously struggling to hear too. I saw them this year and they were amazing, his voice has really held up into his 60s. Would recommend anyone to watch them next time they tour!

agree, but never forget DD almost didn't want to go. They did it for the purpose of it. They almost had no time for rehearsal. I don't think giving a great performance was the real goal, here. On the other side, Queen gave a real good one (that now, for apologetic reason is considered to be "THE" performance...) but they actually were not honestly committed, probably the only one among a crowd of people who genuinely, maybe being very naively, hoped to change something. It's hard to believe, seeing how stars parade nowadays every time they can pretend they are interested in something, but all these musicians were there for a real ideal. Except, again, for Queen: they were there to parade. So, let's forgive the minor performance for the greatest goal...

I didn't realize what a physical performer Simon Lebon was at the time. Music was so different then and many of the bands traveled in the same circles. Today's genres are all different and much turnover. Maybe why I'm on KZbin now.

The best part are the close ups of Nick Rhodes showing off how he made the hook using the pitch bender on the synthesiser we all know he's not actually playing live. But he DID write and record that, so it's all good. He's not the Andrew Fletcher of Duran Duran :-P
