Among many other things, one of the hallmarks of why Duran Duran has lasted 40 years plus and even their most banal pop songs composed have stood the test of time, is this incredible knack for writing killer/incredibly catchy/soaring choruses in all their songs. This is another example..

What I love is that when people called them an 80s band and used phrases like riding a nostalgia or retro wave, they just kept being hip and making great new music. Now you have a whole new Generation of artists from Justin Timberlake to Snoop Dog who all say they love the band and were influenced by them. What I loved most about this CD aside from the great music was they showed the world that they are still as hip, compelling, and innovative as ever and they remain a very talented group of songmakers who create music that has stood the test of time and has appealed to multiple generations. When you see teens now embracing their music it shows that good music knows no decade or era. They are truly one of the best.

It happens a lot with bands that were big a while back. They keep bringing out new music that is still really good, but doesn't get the attention from radio stations. And your average music listener doesn't particularly care about anything that's not played 20 times a day on commercial radio (or these days on the main spotify streams).

It charted in the USA, getting on the Hot 100 from Billboard reaching #33 on 10.9.2015 - their first top 40 hit since "Sunrise" in 2004. It was all over the radio that year at least in America.
@soneil124 жыл бұрын
@@Buc_Stops_Here I'm glad it got some airplay in USA. I never heard it played on the radio in Australia even though Duran Duran songs were a staple of Australian radio in the 80s. In fact their 80s hits still get a lot of play on radion. Radio stations just don't seem interested in playing anything they released since then. Most people here probably don't even realise they've release anything since the 80s despite how good their recent albums have been.

He can be my bitch and I'll be his. In the nicest possible way. Grroowwlll! +Kyach Distent I've been a Duranie since '82 when I fell in love with them at first sight after seeing the video for Hungry Like the Wolf on MTV. As such, I've gotten used to seeing them slagged by the press. And what is the reason??? It's because their prime audience started as teenaged girls and because of their unapologetic love of style and glamour. The slagging continues into the present day with so called journalists having the gall to refer to them as a "boy band". Seriously...wtf? At any rate, as they say- living well is the best revenge and Duran Duran are doing just that and I love them for it! ❤️❤️❤️

My boys, Duran Duran! I will always love these guys!!!
@estulex39867 жыл бұрын

respect to Duran Duran for still aspiring to make music on a pop level even though they're not having hits anymore. that's love of craft. warms my heart ❤
@Phil_Mycock_692 жыл бұрын
In all honestly they probably don’t care about them being hits.. I guess they are just having fun and doing what they love, they have a solid base of fans who appreciate the new material
@Unsilence4092 жыл бұрын
@@Phil_Mycock_69 oh of course they don't care. but this is still a pop song. and Janelle Monae is a timely big name who's very talented, and Duran Duran surely recognized that when electing to collab w her. thats what I mean by "on a pop level".

Cheryl Toland love to be back in the 80s .I'd be wearing white shoes have blonde streaks and eyeliner for a straight guy I had effeminate side to me .But that was the fun of the era

I was introduced to this song when I saw them in concert in Atlanta 2 weeks ago. WOW...what a great song!!! The larger point though....after 40 years...they haven't skipped a beat!!! That not only makes me smile but its uplifting to the soul of a 50 year old Duran Duran fan. Thank you so much DD from all your fans!!

He's always been heart-breakingly handsome and so underrated! Plus he just has one of those faces that you can tell belong to a good, kind person, doesn't he? He seems like a total sweetheart, so humble :)

Why, oh WHY was this not a huge hit? I recently discovered it by chance, and I just found out it’s over six years old. It wasn’t on the radio. This is better than 99% of the new songs out there. There is no justice in the world. If Maroon 5 had done the exact same song, it would’ve been in the top 10.
