this year I have been "spending" all my money buying Broad market low cost etfs! Everytime I have money on hand, I send to it! Also, I have been buying buying seeds, garden tools, and garden soil... starting my own small garden so I can stay away from social media until things go back to normal. Always love your content and help me stay motivated. 🔥

@@inea-fijourney22 you will never figure out. Texas weather is very bipolar, 21 yrs living here and I haven't figure out. For you where you have plenty of vegetation can be hard since your island has plenty of fruit and deliciousness. But, something can get done with this soil depending on the area where you are. I am on zone 7 which is going to Oklahoma passing Denton, We have clay soil we have to prepare our soil very well, if you have some space you can build some elevated flowerbeds and plant Lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, cabbages. Also, you can have hens on most areas and have your own eggs, I have few and I haven't buy eggs for over 2 years. Also, get a book Texas planting will help you a lot. Good luck.

I think a very common misconception with achieving fire is that you have to cut out literally everything but the essentials. I think as long as you have a plan and a budget you can still make FIRE happen. I think you still need to enjoy life and build memories while you achieve the dream

Totally agree! You still have to enjoy the journey!!! FIRE is possible with a plan and budget AND without having to cut out everything but the essentials!!!

💯 percent on point! I love what you say about not cutting social activities, family activities and travel. We saved thousands by driving on a trip to Charleston SC, Atlanta GA and Washington DC. My sister insisted we stay at her new home in Atlanta over five nights; and we found a host of free family activities for our two little girls. We’ve gotten more creative about date nights also, and find it easier to take a bottle of wine 🍷 with us to the many free outdoor summer concerts in NYC. It’s all about being financially creative.

I started my first full-time job in June, and I made a decision to contribute 40% of my salary to my 401(k) for multiple reasons. One being that I'm living with my parents, so I don't have to worry about expenses. Another being that I'm just hungry to get my investments up now so that I can enjoy great returns later. Finally, because the stock market is going down right now, I recognized that this is a great opportunity to be even more aggressive with my investments and buy at bargain prices. All in all, I wanted to make sure that more money was being compounded over a longer period of time, especially at the low prices that they're at right now. I was fortunate to learn not to listen to the noise on the news, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens later on down the road with all the money that I'm putting in now.

The gym comment really resonated with me. I go to the gym 5-6 times a week, make good use of all the amenties and use multiple locations depending where I am. I have been a member of this gym for so long that to get the same level of membership now would be 50-60% more expensive than my current rate! As long as I keep up my habit, I will NEVER cancel this membership.

Hi Amad & Christina! I have been following you all since before you retired and I’m from the Bay Area. I am REALLY late to the fire concept as I am 48 years old ( a very young 48 - I feel 30 and I’m blessed to constantly be mistaken for 30 ;-) My questions are these: 1) Could I do FIRE-D, I’ll call it delayed FIRE :-) I would like to retire in 10 years but need a very aggressive plan. I make a decent salary (work for a FAANG with great bonus, stock, and 401k match benefits), will have no debt (by next month), have 4 months emergency savings, but I have waaaaaaay less than I ideal in my 401k and I’m not a home owner. I am willing to buy out of state investment properties, get certifications and upgrade my job skills in order to make more money, and even sell things on line or develop a great blog or ALL of the above! I still have the dream of adopting one child as well. Do you think that your 365 days to FIRE would be a helpful program for me? Thanks to you both and so proud to see y’all with such a successful channel and businesses!
