You showed us some awesome caravans and I think there were features in each one that I would like in my ‘perfect ‘ setup. Like your house, your caravan gets bigger as your budget grows. I will be honest, though. I don’t care much for the bigger ones with the car underneath. My father in law has a 42ft RV and he pulls a van behind his. I drove him for many years and though driving them across North America is fun, you can’t get to many places you would want to go to. Big RV Parks, big parking lots and sometimes out in the country if you aren’t afraid of scratches and you want to use it. I liked the overhead camper built onto a truck chassis with the sink that moved out of the way. But as husband is in a wheelchair that is half the size (and weight) of the camper makes it a hard one for us to use. I think the one I liked the most was the Sunlight (Sundown? SunCrest?) van you showed at the end of the video. The sporty one. But I would need it longer (same wheelchair issues) and would want it 4x4/4 wheel drive. The overlanders are FANTASTIC but I would need to work with them to build it from scratch and I don’t know that I would ever feel good about throwing a million pounds at a camper. Well, I don’t know if that is true, either. I was in medicine, not a banker, and never saw the kind of money it requires for those choices. Don’t think I could sleep at night doing so when so many have so little. Unless I made it tank/bullet/bomb proof and went back to work in remote areas.. So probably never. But they are really nice and more to my liking.

Yes, I’d happily take parts from many to create my favourite 😀 And the Sunlight was very different! Sounds like you have some great memories from you trips

Dusseldorf like Do-sell-doorf, not like Mussel, just saying. I prefer vans, as David Johns converted on his Vandemonium youtube channel. You got to travel on his narrowboat, were you able to see the van he converted? It's quite small, but I prefer the smaller pieces, so not big furniture taking up the area. I'd add a sml closet shower room as Greg Virgoe,, another youtuber has it, but that's about as big as I'd go. Have fun!

One question I would ask how many actual companies are there. In the US you have two companies who have basically bought many/most of the others, Forest River and Thor, and quality has taken a nose dive and a direct result. Drawers that a r stapled together and wood frame construction.
@iangrice3295 жыл бұрын
Quality will always suffer in situations like this as there is no compilation.

Well, take one of those large vehicles with a car ramp coming out of the back and reconfigure it so the car goes on the trailer with more living space above ! So in all, you have an even longer vehicle ! Next significant mod - not to use standard vehicle chassis - so the floor can be as low as possible - to enable the vehicle to be a double-decker with further stairs up onto the roof with fold-down rails / walls for travelling. The bottom floor would include cat access to the ground underneath and a 'garden fence' would allow the cat outdoors access but not the freedom to wander off. Both sides of the vehicle would expand outwards to give plenty of empty floor space inside - so you're not so cramped. Effectively a 6 berth, I think. Toilet with septic tank, two fresh water tanks - main one in the chassis and a small one on the roof - to service taps without having a pump running for each use. Pump instead takes water from lower tank to upper tank to supply for the day. Drawer catches to prevent them opening in transit to be simple and quiet.
@TravellingK5 жыл бұрын
Geee that would be next level!
@millomweb5 жыл бұрын
@@TravellingK I'm licensed to drive 7.5 tonne + trailer - so for basic vehicle, I'd max out on that ! Many are fitted to standard chassis - so are further off the ground than they need be. Using a special chassis will make more usable room.
