I bet a fella could cut the top 6" off the first bucket and mount it on the lid of a larger barrel or drum to expand capacity.

The plastic-to-plastic stiff joint between the Dustopper and the bucket is not leakproof, because it lacks a flexible, conformable, elastic, compressible gasket. This joint must be completely leakproof if the best possible separation of fine dust is to be achieved with this device. The waste container must contain dead air, so no outside air can be allowed to enter the waste container through the rim joint. The manufacturer apparently chose to supply no such gasket, but this omission does not prove that no gasket is required. One clever KZbin videographer wrapped a plastic garbage bag around his bucket and its rim joint, with his Dustopper installed, and he thereby demonstrated that his rim joint was leaking, which is intolerable. Some people have created their own gaskets using silicone rubber caulk, foam weather stripping, etc. Although the rim of a new bucket may be nearly round and may visibly appear to fit the Dustopper well, I have many Homer buckets whose rims have become stretched to be slightly oblong after years of use, so these buckets would not directly work with a Dustopper. I would not use a Dustopper without a gasket and without demonstrable proof that the Dustopper-to-bucket joint is completely leakproof. Even tiny air leakage at that rim joint is intolerable when expecting to separate fine dust. The same can be said about the Dust Deputy. The waste container must contain dead air, so no leakage of outside air into the Dust Deputy's waste container through the two gaskets can be permitted, if the best possible separation of fine dust is to be achieved with that device.
