This bill would require the governor proclaim May 22 each year as Harvey Milk Day. It would encourage public schools and educational institutions to conduct suitable commemorative exercises on that date.
Anti-gay activists have gone into overtime trying to defeat this bill. We can't let them drown out our voices of support.

There are LGBT teens who attend public and private school and they should have the right to celebrate a Gay man who helped make the world a better and safer place for them.

The bill encourages schools to practice appropriate commemorative exercises, but in no way requires any curriculum changes. Learning about important historical figures and civil rights leaders is hardly equivalent to forcing students to practice a particular religion in public schools.

True, but Harvey Milk for some is a "particular civil right leader" too. And I don't believe there won't be any curriculum change if this pass, school will start teaching about it, teaching Milk's value and belief is right. While some do believe that, some don't. And the people who don't can only sit through it and accept it. While they can not raise an argument about their own believe. People who love Harvey Milk can still do so, but let the people who don't have their freedom too.

I believe there can be different way to achieve what he is talking about. If the government and the state tells the school and students to celebrate this day. It will be unfair, why government tells the school to celebrate Harvey Milk's day and teach about it, while they can not ask students to pray and in some school, carry bible is prohibit?

I lived in San Francisco in the late 70's early 80's. God spoke to me and said "go home". I moved back to Pennsylvania and gave my life back to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am alive,HIV negative and serving God in the church and in the streets ministering to many the love of Jesus Christ. I am alive today because I heard the lords voice and I obeyed. I lost many friends in San Francisco,Pennsylvania,New York and many other places. The lord loves these men and women who struggle with Homosexuality and can set them free. Young people it's not what you think nor heard. It's all deception and it can cost you your life. I am free because of what Jesus did for me on Calvary. Jesus Christ is Lord!
