There’s absolutely no reason to scrimp on a subpar product like this when better ones exist for marginally more money. Thanks for the honest review!

Depends on use case - could be argued that other adaptors are subpar when it comes to manual focus & non-cpu lenses… like all things, horses for courses…

Thank you very much for pointing out the manual focus confirmation part for this adapter. I bought this adapter purely for this use. It begs the question: Why hadn't Nikon enabled this capability via firmware? The rangefinder focus is very intuitive and fast, but I can't do that without a Frankenstein setup like this! I really hope influencers like you raise the question to Nikon to have this fix soon. I think many Nikon users will thank you for this!

That's a valid question, but it seems like cameras do rely on having electronic contacts for that to work. I remember gluing on contacts to an old Samyang lens to get focus confirmation back on a Canon 6D camera a decade ago.

Thanks so much for this review and all your other work. Did you try any Sigma lenses with this adapter?

The 85mm F1.4 DN. Worked fairly well.

Have you tried the Fotodiox Fusion adapter? I wonder if it will work and profide distance info and focus confirmation with Voigtlander E lenses.

I haven't, but look at my comment on your other comment for some good news.

I've tried the Megadap ETZ21 Pro and the Meike ETZ, and I returned both because they failed to work with my Voigtlander E 35mm f1.4 Nokton. Either the camera would go into a weird loop of errors and asking to be shut off, or it would work, but with inaccurate aperture data and no green focus confirmation box. This idea that the Neweer works nicely with focus confirmation for NON-chipped manual lenses makes me very confident it will actually work with the ACTUALLY-CHIPPED Voigtlander. It's pretty lame the others don't allow this with Voigtlanders. As I have no AF Sony lenses, I'm pretty excited to try the Neewer.

Good news - I do own the E-mount version of the APO-Lanthar 65mm F2, and I can confirm that it does give the green confirmation box and no errors using the Neewer.

Hi Dustin, any experience with the Neewer and Tamron 28-75mm g2?
@DustinAbbottTWIКүн бұрын
Not that specific combo, but I did get decent results with the Tamron 90mm Macro, so it should be a decent result (though there is a Z mount version of the 28-75mm G2 that will probably give you better results.

Can you elaborate on the focus confirmation function ? That could be a great think with vintage lenses if the focus point achieved is sharp
@DustinAbbottTWIАй бұрын
There's not much to elaborate on. It does work, and delivers accurately focused results.

What really all of the other reviews fail to mention is weather sealing and how the adapter affects that.

Interesting how these things get overlooked.

Hopefully some lenses will get better support in a future firmware update. From Oct 28th firmware update 1. Optimize focus algorithms to resolve the focus bug with Sony 50mm F1.2 and improve focus performance for Sony 50mm F1.8, 55mm F1.8, 85mm F1.8, etc. (This etc is just stupid. This log should list all the lenses with bug fix, and all with improvement). 2. Improve video focus stability to address occasional jitter issues. 3. Fix an autofocus issue with Samyang 45mm F1.8 and 75mm F1.8 lenses, where only manual focus was previously available.

I'm glad to see that Neewer is continuing to support the adapter via firmware. I feel like they are probably where Megadap was with their previous generation adapter. There's a lot of bugs to squash with something like this because there are so many variables (lens combinations).
