e-books and e-reading change my whole reading life for the better, best decision i’ve made when it comes to reading books, honestly i recommend it to every single reader out there, a kindle it’s great for everyone, even if you think you are not an e-reader and only like to read physical books…trust me, you won’t be disappointed with the kindle. I used to only read physical books and then got my kindle and now i read more e-books than physical ones, so try it! great vlog Emma!

my kindle is one of my favorite things in the world. I love how I can take it everywhere, it contains so many books inside of it, and, honestly, I find it incredibly comfortable and practical to read in it. It was a game changer. I recommend it so much! Plus, in places like the beach or the lake where sometimes it's hard to read books because of how the sunlight reflects on the pages, the kindle is amazing because that doesn't happen with its screen. Hope you also enjoy your kindle reading experience!! By the way, I've also been decluttering a lot these last couple of weeks. Clothes, books, etc. I think it has to do with the new year,. I think it's nice to feel that with the new year you also start your life organized and with a cleaned space 🥰

I love my kindle paperwhite. I have bad eyesight too and I love being able to make the font bigger, plus the screen has no reflection and you can actually read it outside! I especially love it for travel since it fits in my smallish purse.

After three years of a lot of trauma and unwanted change, I feel like this year I will emerge from the mud of life and bloom. After discovering you through my journey into reading classics I never have, your videos have been so helpful in moving through a crappy space, peaceful comforting and a reminder of the simple joys in life. Those are the best. Happy New Year Emma! Cheers! And Happy New Year Emma's Grandma! ❤️

As a new subscriber let me just say that the space you've created here is amazing, Emma. So many people gather at this channel to find peace, relatability, and comfort. To share gentle laughs, and express the things on our minds. We all have something going on (there's always something isn't there?) But through this we can be reminded of the small things. For me, you remind me of my passion for words and the escapism books can bring. You've created a cinematic journal centered around pages 🖤❄🕯📖

Last year I saw a beautiful Victorian house with a Christmas tree still standing well into March, its lights aglow in an upstairs room. The house is on a steep hill, Observatory Road, in the West End of my Scottish city. Houses here have engraved glass windows and porches. Like you I take down decorations on Boxing Day. Don't feel sad. Canada in winter is the place I have always wanted to visit, sounds magical.

It’s me, Virginia Woolf girl back again 💁🏼♀️ The short answer is yes-all of Woolf’s novels are psychological and most would fall under the stream of conscious style. I would still give To the Lighthouse a try if you want to continue with Woolf. I would say that at my university, that one was more popular than Mrs. Dalloway. I think it might be more relatable because it discusses childhood and feelings of loneliness and how the past effects us. In some ways, it’s more serious than Mrs. D, at least, more overtly serious because some really heavy stuff happens in Mrs. D. If stream of conscious is not your thing, stay away from The Waves (even though that is my second favorite) and especially Jacob’s Room (it is a wild ride though). Those two in particular are more psychological and further into stream of conscious. I say most are stream of conscious because her first two novels, The Voyage Out and Night and Day, technically aren’t. I haven’t read Night and Day, but a lot of people love it and it is pretty conventional (at least for Woolf). I think The Voyage Out is more enjoyable if you’re really analyzing her journey as a writer. I am so incredibly excited you read my favorite book. Thank you for another incredible video! I hope that your family is feeling better and you are doing well! ❤️

Mrs Dalloway is one of the only two books ever that made me think I couldn't read it in english, I needed a translation in my own language. Oh and I highly recommend The Waves by Virginia Woolf (one of my favourite books of all time)! I can't remember much from Mrs Dalloway because it wasn't my favourite Virginia Woolf novel but I feel like the style is similar when it comes to the stream of consciousness and the attention to detail but it covers such a bigger scope of life and people and character that I couldn't compare the two. I can't really explain it well but for me personally the Waves is a masterpiece!

Re: Kindle, I'll never give up physical books altogether but at least where I am e-readers are also really great for library books. My library system has about 45000 books available for Kindle, so there's been many occasions where I decide I want to read something on a whim and it's instantly available from my library without having to leave my house. I also try to check the discounts every day and I see something I want to read that I know I either can't get from my library or there will be a long wait time and it's only a couple dollars, I'll pick it up.

I was so uncertain of ebooks because I like the feel of physical too! But I ended up realizing it would be more beneficial for things like my book club with friends where we rank choices and sometimes we end up choosing books that I don't necessarily want physical versions of but would read too slow to borrow from the library. Then I realized I could add the Kindle app to my phone as well and my reading time increased so much (and my mindless social media time went down).

I haven't read Mrs Dalloway, and had a really bumpy time studying the Waves at uni, but I absolutely loved To the Lighthouse, such a brilliant, beautiful book - I so highly recommend it! It is very stream-of-consciousness and definitely detail-oriented, but there is more movement of time (actually I love how Woolf explores time in TtL!) and yeah, it moved me a lot.

Hey Emma, happy new year! If you’re not getting along with the plotlessness of Mrs Dalloway but you like Virgina Woolf’s writing you might prefer “The Voyage Out” (her first publication)? It’s got a clear narrative and is an interesting commentary on colonialism and the common English flaw: the inability to communicate (I’m from the UK…I can confirm the struggle). My favourite Woolf novel however is “To the Lighthouse”, which gives such great insight into the the post-impressionist art movement (greatly inspired by her sister Vanessa Bell, and her Bloomsbury pal Roger Fry). There is also a lot of emphasis on the feminine and many (including me!) like to think that Woolf successfully kills her “Angel in the House” (the Victorian ideal of a domestic goddess, written about in her essay “Professions for Women”) in this novel. Having watched your videos for a while now I get the sense that you’d like a book about art and women thriving. Woolf can be incredibly intimidating and I honestly wouldn’t have ever picked her up but her feminist arguments in “A Room of One’s Own” and her manifesto against fascism in “Three Guineas” lit a fire in me and led me to read many more of her works, as well as other modernist texts. I hope you eventually find some work of hers that you like! Happy reading 🌻
