Ditto on what Alex said. Tire volume and tread selection makes a bigger difference on a HT when you don’t have suspension. Add a 32T oval chainring and you’ll be able to climb everything!
@Alex_5643 жыл бұрын
I'd probably add a dropper & change the front xc tire to something a bit more grip for where you ride. Then I'd add a second wider wheelset with berd spokes for the winter, mud & slop rides.
@EverythingsBeenDone3 жыл бұрын
Wise notes here! I have just the tire for the front.

It really doesn’t need any upgrades. But- little things like grips, bar setup, lever placement, fork setup... those are always the coolest to mess with on MTBs imo. Or really any type of bike, but XCMTB in particular.

@@EverythingsBeenDone great video. Swapped from a Gravel to a 9kg hardtail and IMHO i was able to ride futher on the XC Hartdail as I was less fatigued across challenging terrain - usually 60-80k rides with 1200-1600m of climbing and decending. Yes a little slower on the flats but thats a great time to enjoy the scenery.

For as much climbing as you do an oval chainring could make a big difference. If you’ve never tried one it would be worth a try. On my 1x12 Eagle I notice I have 1-3 extra gears for climbing compared to a round on some of the steeper climbs.

That is a dream bike. I might only change the tires for something more chonky for that kind of stuff. Also, I'd get used to seeing Ron disappear ahead of me around the next steep switchback, because he's obviously that kind of rider. Good tip on the sammich bag/pastry bag.

sweet as. build is spot on. if u want smaller gears u can swap your chainring to a 32. you will be able to climb 20% grades with that gearing. btw sram makes a 10-52 cassette too. you can do either or both. i would run chunkier tires - maxxis ardent maybe. for those wet and loamy conditions. 2.25. and yeah a dropper post would be cush. but it's optional imho. adds weight. nice to have but not really necessary. have fun mate.
