I made a quick router fence a few years ago and since that day, building a better one was on my to-do list.
This one is made from Baltic Birch plywood and features adjustable front plates, dust collection and a T-Track so I can use the sliding flip stop from my table saw fence for repeatable cuts. The whole thing is made to be very lightweight with a small footprint for easy storage. It gets clamped to my table saw fence since my router table is built into my saw, but it is versatile enough to work on any fence or be modified for other applications (t-track tables etc.)
Plans are available on my website!

Dustin, Your design is the best I have seen! Quick, simple, easy to build, and does a great job at doing it's job. Thanks for sharing. One of the best changes I made to my shop was mounting the router in the table saw. This fence will enhance my router set up and make it complete.

Holy cow. I love using KZbin mostly just in finding craftsman using their skills. Most I find do very nice work and most importantly have passion in what they do. You have these same qualities, but none of them had me laughing like the end of your video did. Thank you for sharing your skills as a craftsman, creator, director, and all your other skills that brought this together

Since the fence sides are separate, you could shim the outfield fence 1/32" or so and create an edge jointer.

@HepauDK

I made one similar myself (but without the adjustable sides, I just used the same width as the hole in the insert). I put a lid on the entire width and drilled a couple of holes in the rear plate that sits against the saw's fence for some Bessey TK6 clamps. On the other side of the fence, I put a load spreading board with countersunk holes for the clamps and secured them with a couple of wide slotted washers. That way the entire "contraption" comes off as one complete piece with no need for loose clamps, and no risk of warping the relatively thin aluminium fence.

Kind of a rookie here. Mine came out ever so slightly not straight/square. Probably too much clamping pressure or maybe my braces were slightly off, or both. In any case, two very light passes with the jointer squared the base to the front, and 3 or 4 VERY LIGHT passes with the planer squared and straightened the back. It’s perfect now. Thanks.

@dpmakestuff
@dpmakestuff 4 жыл бұрын
TILLER BEEZ I most certainly did not. I used a router table mounted in my table saw and used that fence, but I didn’t use a router fence. That’s what I think you’re referring to and if that’s the case I would say there are a million ways to cut two little slots and those are bonus steps anyways.

@@dpmakestuff you would be correct. I did find it odd that you "router" was labeled STOP SAW. Forgive my ASSumption when i saw a 10,000 rpm spinning bit with a fence next to it and ASSumed it was a router with a fence. I've never seen a table saw turned into a router. Not sure there is a million ways but several to be sure. I appreciate the video but my real issue id going to be the attachment hardware to the router table. Got it at the pawn shop cheap because there was no fence or power cord.

Not a criticism in any way but boy it must be nice to live in the States where space and tools are cheap... Good video and fence.
