I am going to credit Josh Freese for getting Sting to finally perform Spirits at this faster tempo, complete his awesome FULL BASS LINE. WooHoo! Such a great listen. Thank you for posting. I just wish that woman who simply would not stop talking would have stayed home. It happens at every concert. Listen, people. A concert is for LISTENING.

The drumming is unreal. That tempo control is unmatched by most professional drummers to this day! Josh Freese is a total beast. Pretty much a drum machine himself ahaha.
@TempoDrift14806 жыл бұрын
Ryan Sanford Not even hardly. He didn't do anything close to what was supposed to be played. You don't go adding your personality to a Stewart Copeland number. Save that for another gig where the drums aren't such an important part of the song. Tempo? Sure that's fine but you don't be riding when you're supposed to be on the hi-hat. That's not for him to make those decisions.

Dude really this guy plays like I can you must be deaf and blind you must be a steward Copeland hater I can never understand how people compare a dak Prescott to lets say Joe Montana but oh well we all have opinions and I'm sure you'll reply back to this we all know u will cheers.

I agree he couldn't hit the dome part of the ride correctly if it meant his life I just hope he doesn't attempt a rush song he will totally mess it up

Josh Freese adds his personality to every song he plays while keeping impeccable time and not rushing the beat. Sting doesn’t audition drummers and obviously doesn’t reign Josh in or tell him what to play. Sting hires the best drummers in the world for his solo bands (Josh, Vinnie, Manu, Omar) and lets them do their thing. If Josh played like Stewart people would say it’s a cover version.

So agree! And think he fits with a more aggressive vintage Police sound than Vinnie (uh, no slouch) brings.

I know I'm way late to the comment party here. I have no idea who any of you commentators are but I do know who Josh is. I don't want to get into how I sort of knew/know him because it doesn't really matter but I do want to make it clear that whomever is commenting about his drumming being anything less than amazing has absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I've been watching him play since his gigs at Disneyland when he was about 11. Guy is a true talent. Do a little research before you make disparaging comments about people you don't know and could not in a million years compete with behind the kit. Josh is the go to drummer for recording anything and everything. Don't make technique comments when you have no idea what it means. Do you honestly think Sting would bring him out on tour multiple times if he wasn't thrilled with the "technique" ? Internet trolls are such a waste of time. SMH.

Completely agree. Not everyone can play with A perfect circle, Devo, and Sting and get it all done correctly. Except for Josh of course.

Very poor sound. This is Not in 4K
@proudmonkey6 жыл бұрын
Mic Mica weird, because when I view it on my Sony 4K tv thru my Xbox one S or Roku Ultra, it says it's a 4K file. The sound is recorded thru the Sony external stereo condenser; and considering my seat location and the venues sound, it's the best available. Instead of complaining, why don't you go fuck yourself?

I get that Sting is older, so the key change is necessary but this version just lacks urgency. It sounds like a MOR hit though, maybe that's what he was going for. Josh Freese is good and I am sure he enjoyed the paycheck at the time.

Josh is playing the ride when the parts should be on the hats. His style is too behind the beat for this song. Stewart was really ON the beat on this track.

And yet Josh has been in studio on 500-800 records Comparing Josh to Stewart is like comparing Audi to BMW
@jackbroad6109 Жыл бұрын
Actually, you're wrong. Stewart was on top of the beat on the original recording, not on the beat. Also, Dominic isn't playing exactly what Andy played on the albums. Hell, either is Sting. Are they wrong for the band too?

I don’t get it. Sting is always touring with his band. Clearly they are not in the same league as the Police. These are guys are good but no comparison to the Police. Sting should reform the Police and make another album with the police and then tour. Then go out in style.
