An "overly negative" assessment of one of the world's greatest singers ever. It reminds me of the "Dancing With Demons" book co-written by Dusty's manager, Vicki Wickham, following her untimely death in 1999. Dusty deserved better.

Poor Dusty really didn't get a chance to be happy;what ,with being brought up in such a dysfunctional Irish-Catholic environment, especially of that era,combined with her undiagnosed bipolarism, her massive inferiority complex and her legendary reputation in the recording industry as being "difficult";however for so many years her brilliant talent was able to mask most of those defects, but being a single female in a male dominated industry eventually took its toll, especially when trying to keep her "unconventional" lifestyle private.Her career, whilst often being glamourous and in the spotlight in her early, successful years,was a very lonely one especially when on tour as a single female would have felt very isolated and vulnerable in many ways ,as often they would tour internationally in the company of male rock groups,but be by themselves. Nevertheless,Dusty was the most uniquely talented female "pop" singer of her era;she was MUCH more than just a "pop" singer;her sultry, vulnerable and beautiful voice stood her out from the crowd and how blessed we are that she chose singing as her career:Like so many of the very best in their vocation, their reputation grows greater after they have passed away, especially in her profession;
