You have always been extremely encouraging. I was a fan from meeting you at a Comedy club mic in Knoxville. I got a copy of making that fudge and was fortunate enough to be part of Cape Fear when you recorded Son of a Ditch to getting to work with Hannah in a comedy contest pre pandemic. I just saw this today (obviously). Your ending comment is one of the best pieces of advice I have ever heard anyone give someone, especially learning that the hard way myself. It applies to many industries. For me, it was working the technical/backstage side of the performing arts. I work as a newspaper editor now, but I still have ties and friends from a long time ago with my work in the performing arts. I can't tell you the countless times I was told that my career was a joke (pun intended) and it really had an effect on me, how I felt and somewhat the direction I headed. If I had just pursued what I loved doing full-time, I would be in a different place. Just having that piece of advice and someone who encouraged me like that in my life would have made the difference. I turned down some prime opportunities over the years and had some just-missed ones. Such as, I was supposed to be working as one of the tech managers at the facility that was hosting this new show for television that was going to come out called, "America's Got Talent." It was a gig on the east coast with expensive living and I was only scheduled to be there for like three months or something. I already had other things lined up for work. The guy who was hiring called to offer me the job but kind of noted how expensive it would be and that it's only three months so it probably wouldn't be worth it. He tells me the job is mine if I want it. I had asked him if I could let him know the next day so I could think about it and he said sure. I looked at housing options and stuff and the area the theater was in. After seeing that, the hassle, the costs and already having other work lined up, I called him back and told him that I think I'll have to pass. Then come to find out within a couple of years, that show went bonkers and absolutely famous. It was the kind of gig that just would have yielded me better and better gigs but you don't know that at the time. Things like that. So I appreciate that piece of advice being out there. Love your comedy. You're good at your niche. Hopefully I will see you in Minnesota sometime soon and I can take you out storm chasing if the conditions are right. BTW - Fish jokes are great. Just saw Dusty in San Diego not too long ago. Everyone seemed to laugh at the same time and then go quiet at the same time. I couldn’t. I didn’t want to throw him off but I couldn’t stop laughing.
