I drank heavily for 25 yrs and I quit cold turkey and I had a seizure 24 hrs after I quit. I was lucky because my wife is a nurse and my father is a doctor. The seizure happens due to the synapses and neurons which have been basically dormant due to the yrs of alcohol consumption beginning to start firing again. I have now been sober for 10 yrs. Praying for Kevin and his family!

Alcoholism and opiate addiction are eerily similar in the matter that if you stop consuming it after years of use or as an addiction that the withdrawl symptoms that it causes, it can cause organ failure, seizures, heart attack and even sudden death.
@somebloke872 жыл бұрын
Ex- drug worker here! Alcohol (and downers in general) have withdrawal effects that kill. Never EVER stop suddenly without medical supervision. Sedatives surpress the body's various functions so it has to produce hormones etc. that counteract the sedation in order to function. If you then suddenly take away the thing that's suppressing the system, the brain goes haywire and you can have seizures and heart attacks etc. RIP to the kid. Condolences to the family.

People think alcohol addiction withdrawal isn't as bad as drugs it's actually the same or worse....People going cold turkey from alcoholism can get real Bad without medical supervision..They can get Delirium Tremens..its a severe neurological condition resulting from alcohol withdrawal. Roughly one in ten people who experience alcohol withdrawal develop this condition and the death rate can be as high as 35 percent. Grand mal seizures. These seizures cause violent muscle contractions and periods of unconsciousness that can interrupt brain function and even cause brain damage , Cardiovascular Paranoia and confusion Etc....

That is oldskool and everyone is entitled to their views. However doing that today, with the financial situation, difficulty getting on the property ladder, general rate of youth mental issues and whatnot, is very harsh and not likely to end well. More recently, many older people, young adults for sure have had to go back to their elderly relatives, siblings or live with friends. Not ideal, but in most cases necessary. God bless
@retro_422 жыл бұрын
Yea okay sure thing, not like there are many individual circumstances as to why that happens with young adults. Just because someone lives at home after the age of 18, doesn't mean they will end up with issues and even if they do. It doesn't mean it's from living at home.
