You finally did a show about a knike that i own! I put a convex edge on it, and it carves and feathers fantastically. I've split loads of Fatwood with it, beating on the very tip may times, with no problems, and it is a fantasic scraper. Carves bowdrill sets very nicely, though i havent used the handle as a bearing block. I just carve one instead. I love mine. Its the only TOPS I own, though i have tried others, and so far, the only one I would recomend, and concur with everything youve said here. Thanks, gentlemen!

Just the fact that you can get a Jäkääri Puuko and a Skrama combo for half that price, i just shake my head. Heck the Storm Vector from Tops is just a little bit more expensive. And that is what, 5 times as much cutting edge and at least twice as thick? I don't get it.
@stefanurbanek69776 ай бұрын
Come on Mikkey, you KNOW that you'd beat the Teräva Jäkaaripuuko even harder and not worry about it!
@Jinkiro6 ай бұрын
I have both knives, and while yes the Jaakaripuukko is definitely more up to abuse, it is also a thicker stock and grind and I find it doesn't carve wood or slice as well as the tanimboca in my experience. Realistically the tops is more than durable enough for a survival knife, so I think the tradeoff of a little durability for a little more cutting performance. Theyre similar knives at the end of the day though.

I like this Puukko design with a few changes. Add a lanyard hole, lose the bow drill divot, lose the two holes in the front and add another bolt instead, use different stainless bolts, use a kydex/plastic sheath and most of all use a tough stainless steel. Something like Aus 8 or 12C27. And finally lower the price. There's just no way I'm gonna pay 216 euro for a simple 1095 carbon steel knife and a simple leather sheath. But it's one of the few Tops knives I would even consider buying. On the other hand I have an Enzo (now Brisa) Elver with stainless blade (12C27) and G10 handle scales (no longer in production) and I think it's a better knife in this category.
