Heya Fellas, I remember reading an article WAAAAaaaayyyy back (probably about the time you two were born or even before) where Tom Brown went over the reasons for his design parameters on the Tracker Knife. The notch in the blade that you referred to as the "Feather Stick" notch was actually designed with the idea of being able to render wood into full rounded cross-sectional profile for fabricating friction fire spindles & in particular, arrows and bow staves in the field. Brown was very big on archery and making field expedient bows & arrows as part of his training. Great job as always!

The TOPS Tracker is an absolute beast. I sent mine to sharpen, came back razor sharp. TOPS also replaced the handles while they were at it. I was practically sent a new knife, but I know it was mine because the serial number was the same. The "saw" is not a saw, it is for notching. I still prefer the TOPS Operator 7 for everything.

This is my hands-down favorite knife design because I know how to use it and it is a one knife option extraordinaire. Is it perfect out of the box? NO. It will need user mods to make the edge even better and then you will have to learn how to use it because as you clearly pointed out, it is NOT a regular knife, and trying to use it as such will provide mixed results. It is a survival knife, not a bushcraft knife. for the survival tasks (shelter, fire, weapons), it is superior. Did you guys see the manual that is supposed to come with it? Tom Brown prepared a book that shows all the intended uses. Now, also keep in mind, TOPS is only ONE of many makers that has a version of this knife. The ORIGINAL was made by a guy whose name I forget, then by Dave Beck and he still makes the best versions available at any price today. Great review, I was laughing my ass off!

@@brianmccann666 Great film NOT so great knife [IMO] ! Having used the TOPS TBT knife for about 6 months while working around my farm and while deer/hog hunting it is NOT that practical of a blade shape ! The blade shape actually inhibits its overall usefulness ! The funky shape puts it in this weird [not in a good way] place kinda in between a camp knife [chopper] an a bush craft blade [utility type] and the ''saw tooth'' crap on the spine is absolutely useless and more of a hinderance than anything else ! Its a heavy [like MOST TOPS knives] knife ,which is fine, I love a good thick & heavy blade but it just to short to get a REALLY good chop with and the grind of the TBT and ALOT of other TOPS knives makes it kinda hard to sharpen to a REALLY good edge and even if you do get a really good sharp edge ,it tends not to last under even minimal usage and devolves pretty quickly into what resembles a [mini] dull hatchet except even a dull hatchet can still be pretty useful where as the TBT just ISNT ! As someone who carries / use's a large knife daily I can tell you with all certainty If the blade were 1/3 longer it would be FAR more useful [IMO] but even then w/that particular blade shape MOST people who ACTUALLY USE a large/heavy knife regularly would pass it over for a more traditional shaped knife !

It definitely changed my views on this knife. It is usually crazy overpriced for the steel it usually comes with (1095). But in 154 CM I can respect it.

Hey guys, love your channel. I was looking to buy a Tom Brown tracker and actually ended up getting the Tops 'Hawkes Hellion, Survivor 2020' I'd love to see a review by you guys, because it claims to do everything the TBTracker does, and more.

Thank you for the funny video guys:) I just add a little info - this is not the original TOPS Tracker T1, but this is the T3 model (the only stainless Tracker model made by TOPS with a blade length 5,5" /14cm/ real cutting edge cca 5,1" /13cm/ and weight under 400g / 14oz). The T1 has +1" (2,5cm) on the blade and +50% of weight. FM

I have a tops bob and at first wasn't crazy about, but then I hit a nail in a piece of wood. I had to regrind it to fix the edge and after putting a scandivex on it, it's an amazing knife. It was my favorite for about 2 years, before I got a Bark river Bravo 1.5 in CPM-3V. If anyone has a Bob I def recommend regrinding it; it becomes a whole new knife, a very capable one. Great video as always, guys. Glad your leg didn't get hit!! That was nuts. Do you think the unique edge shape makes this knife more dangerous to use?

The saw part is more of a tool for making notches (so I've heard)

Alright guys, let me explain, this is a multi functional knife. It is supposed to be a saw (used to notch wood for making traps), it is a small hand axe (the curved edge), a kindling maker (the straight edge), an animal gutting and feather stick maker (the inner round between straight edge and curved edge), and a skinner (also the curved edge). If you know of a knife that can do more as a fixed blade, please, let me know.

So ...... you were less than careful in your 'test', and you want to blame the steel? Weak game ..... and not a company I'd wish to deal with.
