Are you learning a language together with your children?
For example, you might have moved to the Netherlands or Belgium and you're now studying Dutch together as a family. What's the best approach to teach your kids? In this video, I'm discussing how you can make learning Dutch - or any language for that matter - a fun family activity.

I just moved from Egypt to Belgium a month ago with my 4 years old girl She started going to kindergarten here in Belgium. I watch Tin Tin adventure in Dutch ( I already read all the books in Arabic so I have an idea about the story of each episode) My little girl found it intertaining thanks to Janssen en Janssen😂 so she started to watch it with me. My kid also likes ketnet, we watch "Simon " together. We try to read and solve a nice book in dutch called "bobo" it was given to us by the kindergarten as a free sample. It has puzzels, coloring and counting exercises. We also went to the forest and we tried to spot all the new autumn things she learnt about in the kindergarten Eekhoorn, eikel, dennenapple , Boom, blad , paddenstoel .. she was really happy to collect some autumn leaves, acorn and pine. Thank you Nout for this video! I sure have more ideas now ..I will try the cooking tip as I have many cooking recipes in Dutch thanks to Colruyt mails 😆

I'm so happy to read that. Your comment really made my day. I love Tin Tin in Tibet :-) Also if you have any other tips, feel free to share. What I didn't mention in the video: I don't have any kids myself so what I came up with is a sort of "abstract ideal" (especially the bubble principle I think is very important) but then the day to day minutiae and details, that's a little bit further from my world. I've been teaching a kid some Dutch recently though and that's going better than I thought (my stupid sense of humor seems to help). Any other concrete tips that you or anyone out there has to offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to write such an elaborate comment and all the best to you and your daughter. :-) Good luck!

@@DutchGo Hello Nout, I really like the Bubble principle!! As much as, I want my daughter to pick the language, I worry that someday, she may loose her mother language(Arabic)! That's why I decided we should always speak Arabic with her at home. to make sure she doesn't loose it. BUT I want to allow some Dutch somehow .. you know what I mean XD So, the bubble principle solves the problem :) Having a starting and ending time frame, makes the principle less confusing to kids (kids like structure!! they get things better when they are will defined ) After watching your video, I thought to myself "He definitely have KIDS!" It's kind of a surprise that you don't XD I wish you the best with your kid student! Good luck :)
