It's completely random. I entered DV2021 right at the end because I had to get a passport, and I was NOT selected. I then entered DV2022 on the 3rd day of the entry period and WAS selected with a 3 digit case number. At the interview I met a guy from the same city as me who entered DV2022 on the last day and was also selected with a case number less than 10 above mine. I was single and he had a wife and child. We both got our green cards.

About the picture you used was it edited with adobe photoshop of which I've found many photo studios using that. But the guidelines it says no digital alteration?

@@myztroogeegibson3568 I used the $7 visa photo service, google it, you send them your photo (I took a selfie against a wall with my phone) and credit card details, they edit the photo to Green Card lottery specs, charge you $7 and email you the edited photo - It works because I was selected and got my Green card - its actually the brand new design green card released in February this year - has the security features where the statue of liberty appears on your photo under certain light, very nice. For the sake of $7 get the photo done professionally where it is guaranteed to be correct for the green card lottery, because if you do it yourself and get it wrong you will be disqualified before the draw and will NEVER know you were disqualified because of your photo. Many people were disqualified in DV2024 before the draw because of their photo

My friend applied last year about 2hrs to closure but didn't get selected. I think the day to enter the lottery didn't increase a chance of being selected but a good photo increases chances of being selected. Be very serious about your photo guys especially the quality standards.

Bayes' theorem rings a bell. A classic example. To confirm the hypothesis, we divide this chart by the number of applications sent each day (including losers), we expect to see a flat line. Assuming the process is random. Is there any way to estimate the number of submissions for each day before the deadline? Maybe some unofficial third-party statistics from sites that fill DV for you? Even seeing the charts of how abiturient apply to other programs/Universities will confirm the theory that they wait till the next moment.

There is a site that monitors traffic to all government sites. I use that site to see how busy a domain is - so for instance I can see that there were 722k visits to dvprogram.state.gov yesterday. That daily number will grow in the next few days - I'll produce a video showing some of that data. The site for stats is analytics.usa.gov/state

I've been following your blog for years and watch your fact-based KZbin videos. One thing I've noticed about KZbinrs who post about DV lottery they usually invite DV winner to give their videos a bit of credibility and have people following them. They exaggerate lots of things, for example, I've seen one talking "pre-selection screening " pool, I don't know if there's anything like that since the DV is completely random draw of all qualified applicants. I've applied last year a day before the DV deadline in the hopes of being selected, but I was not selected. I've already applied in the first week, and that's it. Hopefully I'll be selected next year, fingers crossed 🤞 Thanks for your updates, well-researched content for DV applicants. Lots of people will benefit from it.

Hello Brit, quick question on this, does it mean there is a percentage cap of selectees against all the entries of a day? Because assuming selectees are just picked randomly with no capping it then would mean more/all people who entered on date x might be selected on a higher scale than on day y regardless of the number that entered that day. Thanks for the highlight, this process might not be the best in the world but quite interesting to learn from

Hi did u entered the case number correct. Enter the case number without 0 . Ex:if ur case no is AA00***** enter it as AA*** without 0 Check it as.

First thing is stop trying to enter the DS260. If you try too many times, you will cause a security block. Then confirm the entry details using the "lost confirmation" link on the ESC page. Then finally try one more time with the details that you have checked, removing the "leading zeros" from the case number, but using the correct 16 digit confirmation code.
