I was the principal clarinetist for this session. Constitution Hall; ventilation was off and clarinets were going sharper by the minute! Great musicians, all!

I played this a about 5 years ago in The Richmond Pops Band. (I played Eb Clarinet on this). It certainly is a very challenging piece. You guys are flat out amazing! Love it!!!

this is a nice overture. I have been trying to memorize it for a while. It’s a hard one to memorize. But it’s well worth it.

I played it as second chair first part in the Utah’s All-State Band in 2014. This was my FAVORITE piece to play: sooooo rewarding in it’s difficulty. And they played this same piece later the same year. I was mesmerized ☺️☺️

@@jeremyklein7884 i actually played this in second grade when my mediocre band (the tokyo kosei wind orchestra) recruited me at just 7 years old to sightread the piccolo part. Of course i had never held a piccolo until that day but managed to sightread it perfectly with no mistakes at all. it was so hard but i memorized the whole part the first time i played it and can still perform it backwards and upsidedown from memory to this day!

Wish this arrangement had the original key. It’s played beautifully it just doesn’t sound as bright. Kind of like Jupiter in bflat instead of c.

There is now an arrangement in the original key, but it requires a section full of clarinetists willing play both A and Bb clarinets, switching back and forth, as Dvorak required in the original.
