U-Turn has been my nightmare for the Mod 1, failing twice because of a mix of nerves and very bad habits (not looking where I was going + not going fast enough + not turning the handle bars enough because of the fear of putting the foot down). @@kylegreenslade9952 I was going too slow, so I would say maybe 3 mph? Maybe less, I wasn't fast enough to sustain the turn, which mixed with target fixation made me put my feet down. Also no revs, so the bike was "ok, so you want me to fall down, do you?" :p

Great video. Couple of questions for you when you do your observations prior to moving off I notice you always look right then left then off is this the is this the correct way or can I do look left then right then off ? Also when do you start to make the u turn is it when almost at the end of the white line or can it be done before that I just got a new bike it's big thanks for your help.
@Lets-rideUk3 жыл бұрын
Hi Iain. It really doesn't matter which shoulder you start with. It's only by habit I start with the right. You can start the turn whenever you like, as long as you remain within the confines of the white lines. If you're really confident you can do the U-turn straight off the bat, without any forward motion! Not easy for new riders though, which is why we always teach to ride forward a couple of bike lengths to make sure the balance is there. Good luck!

Ive been riding a 125cc for just over 2 years now and am considering doing a full bike test as the price of CBT keeps rising....im 44, so id do the full bike test i think, might not get a different bike though as the 125cc is cheap and cheerful its just a toy i play with here and there, i have a nice car that i drive daily, the bike is purely for a bit of fun. These look pretty much like the CBT...the 650cc are obviously heavier, but by how much? My 125 is about 150kg, do you have an idea of how heavy the bike you do this on is? I can move mine pretty easily, just worried that the extra weight would mess me up

The big bikes we use are around 200kgs and virtually all pupils find them easier to ride than the 125's as it happens! Nothing to worry about. 👍

@Lets-rideUk Жыл бұрын
Indicate if you want to - it's really no problem either way. There are no DVSA publications showing the use of an indicator for this exercise though and I would argue there is little point indicating after the lifesaver - if it's clear when you do the lifesaver then you can turn therefore who is the indicator for exactly, or if you do the lifesaver and someone is overtaking you at that point then you would abort immediately so the indicator doesn't accomplish anything there either. As I say though, indicate if you like, it's really no problem other then one more thing to worry about. Good luck! 😊👍
