I have to say that Im literally blown away from this concept. I have always struggled with the "breaking your back" concept just for a minor adjustment. Now with the airlift system it will make a world of difference. Im an employee of Guitar Center for 4 yrs now and I can't wait to tell people about this break thru. Also I may just have to order me some for myself!! Keep the good stuff coming DW

For sure! We tested the 9300AL with the Edge snare which is our heaviest snare we have it works great! You will need to guide the snare up for gently but that's all the work you would have to do ultimately! Thanks for choosing DW!!

We appreciate your concern! We tested these stands over and over again with the heaviest toms and snare drum we get mounted to these stands. Randy May has supplied us with great products over the years and we feel confident with the Air Lift system. We love you, too!

Pretty easy. If you watch from the 2-3 minutes marks Randy talks about how easy it is to twist the tom stand and then he pushes the stand back down with his fingers on the heads of the drums to get the whole stand back down. :)

I have the Airlift snare stand and the double tom stand. I gig a lot so I like their lightweight flush base vintage style stands, but the extra weight of the Airlift stands is totally worth it because of how well the technology works. It’s probably the best hardware invention in decades. I also love how you can’t see the Airlift mechanism; it’s just there when you need it.

We hear you! The way the Air Lift mechanism works is all in the wing screw. When the screw is released the Air Lift naturally lifts the snare basket or top position of the double tom stand. When you have a heavier snare or bigger toms the stand will not lift the drums up automatically but with very minimal guidance you can lift the drums or snare up easily. Hope this helps!

We think it should. We do not the exact weight on the Tama Bell Brass snare but we tested the 9300AL on our heaviest snare(Edge) that can way up too almost 30 lbs and works great. The way the Air Lift system works it actually likes more weight in a sense.

Thanks for choosing the Performance Series! The Air Lift system has been applied to the Double Tom stand and the 9000 Series stand at this time. We do not currently have a single tom stand with the Air Lift technology at this time. We do take you question as a suggestion and we will make note of it. Thanks again!

Well if you go with all Maple/Mahogany shells you will be achieving the warmth you are looking for. With the Maple/Mahogany shells we do not offer the SSC(VLT, X, etc.) option though. We can go with an SSC combo with Maple shells which would be VLT 8x10 and 9x12, X 12x14 and 14x16 and VLX 18x20.

I'm suprised by DW's excellent customer support. I'm not a DW customer myself, honestly I don't even own a single piece of DW but I wish I did. I mean, it really is a brilliant, private company where customer support seems to be the most important thing. They even answer KZbin comments and let you know so much about the drums to make you feel comfortable before spending your money. Not a lot of companies do that nowdays, just saying. Peace from Sweden!

Thanks! We are thinking you mean apply this technology to the tom arms themselves? If that is the case we definitely think it is a good idea. We had discussed the mechanism for the Air Lift works best for the actually tubing of the stand.

16x20 would work great for jazz, musicals and church applications. A VLT shell will be good with punch and low end but also you can tune it up for Jazz sessions. It also will carry versatility over all. We say go with a Top Edge and the Die Cast hoops are an option to weigh down unwanted overtones.

Thanks DW for the response! That's right. That way, I feel, there would be an extra degree of freedom for the toms. This would allow the drummer to perfectly align the membrane of the tom heads as well so that he can strike them with the stick at the desired angle. Just a thought. :)

@apsestasis I share gear at shows a lot and if you've four drummers playing your kit, it's going to be drastically changed around several times in an evening.Everyone has a different throne height preference which means toms and snares will be raised and lowered a lot.If you have quick turn-around times between bands, a very simple feature like this can save you time as well as stress. The airlift feature is worth every penny imo.Well done DW!

I do gig, not what you could call "a lot", but enough. If you collapse your stands when gigging - sure, this could be useful. Personally - i just take the tops of, and set them back afterwards. That's what the memory locks are for. So once i lock in my positions they don't move. ever.

mmm yeah, do you think i do it by choice?Logistically, the gigs i play require a shared backline.Brakeables are always brought, that has nothing to do with tom, snare stand and throne height as they are used by everyone.

@DrumWorshipInc the double tom stand seems to rotate with a lot of ease - does it move that easy when your hitting the toms or does it lock so the stand can't spin while you play?

How does it get the weight right? What if I'm playing like an 8" and a 10" and the other guy is using power toms? Is it going to handle them both the same way or are my tiny toms going to blast off like a rocket? Seems like a really cool invention, I might need one soon!

Great idea! I'm considering getting one. Can it also be locked once a desired height is obtained or does it 'only' rely on the air piston? And is it good for say 13" piccolos or 15" snares or just for 14" snares? Thanks!

This product sells itself. I don't know why they have these guys acting and talking about how we all have common setups and common problems. We don't need to be sold on a product that drummers just WANT. Another great product from the geniuses at DW...just dosn't need the hard sales pitch and fake act behind it.
