Please, please, my people. There were no pros to colonialism. All African children should learn about all Africa and its history(pre and post colonialism). Note well, europeans are not better than us. LEARN THAT!!!

Unfortunately, our educational systems in Africa teaches us to thank the Europeans for "discovering Africa" . And our pupet leaders are coons who sees nothing wrong in worshipping Europeans so long as these leader's family and friends are rich and clung on to power

Its apparent the Arab history in Tanzania(Read Zanzibar) is not tainted in any way as they were there for centuries and natives had no problem with them at all, The history being published in the curriculum is from the colonialists which is biased and unverifiable

How is that they are grooming students for more colonialism? Could you be specific and elaborate on that? i think you just missed the whole point, which is that there is not much of history and colonialism in Tanzanian education system nowadays, let alone the African history! Some of our kids in Tanzania do not even know who Nyerere was!

My ancestors are from Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Taita-Taveta in Kenya. Many related tribes were divided because of colonial borders, these nation states are artificial constructs. Glad to see a lot of nuance when it comes to this issue, pros and cons as with many things.

Why are u interviewing these kids that they have no clue at all about colonization and what real happened in Tanzania? Do they know about Bibi Titi Mohammed, Khadija Mzee, Janet ? Kibasila, Abushir who was hanged in public in Dar then Mzizima?? And many more. Since Tz after independence changes the history books to normalize tribalism religion and zones and colonial scars to unite as one people one nation. So they don’t that much since we don’t talk neither taught that deep in school systems. But ask the elders will tell u the facts about what real Germans did. Same to Namibia and Cameroon u see the German legacy

Tanzania 🇹🇿 map looks like Germany 🇩🇪 map, that shows extensive involvement of Germany in Tanzania and scramble of Africa. There are no doubt Tanzanian government should file a motion of compensation against Germany for the genocide and atrocities committed during colonial rule, particularly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Because it happened and no matter how much people want to deny how you respond and react to the past can definitely affect how you act in the future, and overall promoting people to use their critical thinking skills is never a bad thing

Honestly, my country has been colonised, by Mongols, Ottomans, Hungarians,Russians and we are not talking about it so much. We just get over it and stopped complaining constantly. I just don't see the reason why to talk about it over and over again. And we built up and pursue our way and we are fine. Whole world was colonised trough out the history and exploitation has hapoend across the world. Just stop it!!

One the two things are not mutually exclusive, both are needed, two ex colonial, imperialistic past won't go away just because we let people forget. New forms are going to rise and try to destroy anything similar to a sense of economic independence, in order to fight and come out winner forgetting is not key

@@emekamichael-co9ub looking forward forgetting what happened in the past is wishful thinking and overall a waste of effort, while you're here trying to forget Chinese people are setting up Chinese only shops in African soil, opening up shops and businesses where African nationals are exploited and underpaid, taking advantage of no law enforcement to supervise labour. Everything with the same tactics of Europeans 🤦🏾‍♀️ not a single new thing. Propaganda, tolerance and loans but yes let's take part in erasing the very history that could teach us

Miss Mfinanga points out that the situation prior to German colonization was characterized by Arab slave trade. This slave trade had been ongoing for thousands of years and caused a high number of victims. With their protection treaty and protection forces, Germans aimed at ending slavery and the famous Arab/Swahili cruelty. Even aside of Arab slave trade, Africa saw continuous tribal wars that wiped out entire tribes. Unfortunately, it seems that in this context, also some Germans exhibited wrong behaviors. However, Germany established security, infrastructure, education, lots of benefits to mention. I do not know the details about industry and the health sector. Everything in this world has pros and cons.

True with Arab slave trade. They pack it outside often. However, I disagree with your sweet reference to Germans in that time. Good work was hypocrisy to sustain their agenda and plan for colonisation. If resistance wasn't met , you wouldn't be called Tanzania today atleast. Tell if you as a tz native can travel to Germany to solve e.g immigration problem. It was disguise. No praise at all.

What was the Berlin conference aim? The Germans did not come to that land to end slavery and perform missionary work.,they were only there for both its natural resources and international prestige of being a colonizer. The things they did to establish that were despicable and should not be swept under the rag.

@@Am77-007....I don't agree with the brutality of the Germans in Tanzania, but if Africa wasn't divided as it was through the Berlin conference, today there would no longer be any black people in all of Africa, as the Arabs would have completely exterminated them through slavery and transatlantic and trans-Saharan trade.

Those periods were brutal. So many despicable we even did to each other before the Europeans. Instead of still focusing on colonialism and clamouring for reparations (which may add little or nothing) we should focus on the present and see how we can collaborate with brilliant minds across the world to better our future. AFRICANS leave the past and please LOOK FORWARD. There are so many other pending innovative issues we should discuss on instead of this.
