@@GoblinArmyInYourWallsI don’t think that you’re wrong, but they recently said on a stream that they were wrong to have negative bias against Rimworld - after all, they are two very different games. Like all of us, we all say, do, and think things that we later regret, and this is also true of Blind. The difference is that they are an internet content creator with quite a wide reach, and so therefore are judged more. That, and I suppose that drama is good for the clicks?

This is the first time I’ve seen Tarn on camera since the initial Kitfox release of Dwarf Fortress. His personality hasn’t changed, but it still feels like night and day seeing him go from the shlubby looking guy, living in a cramped apartment, talking into an old webcam, to how he looks today. All of the those years of him and his brother working on their dream game and seeing their life’s work finally paying off for the both of them. It makes me so happy.

Almost all of my time that I've played Dwarf Fortress since 42.04 has been almost entirely in adventure mode. I have been personally playing 47.05 even though I did get the steam release. Now is the time. I can't believe I get to see the announcement so early!

My favorite play style is to combine Fortress mode and adventure mode to visit my fallen forts which can be very nostalgic, eerie and exciting! I love DF so much, it's my favorite single player game!

To point out where a bit of love could be shown to Fortress mode in a future patch, I would love to see a simple search box to make things quicker when determining the materials for each piece of a squad's uniform. Looking forward to giving Adventure mode a proper whirl!

Well, I said once adventure mode was out proper I'd have to get and learn the game, so here we are. I'm sure I didn't need those hundreds of hours of my life anyway. :D

I loved how I could build things like houses in the vanilla version but something I always wanted to be able to do was make a village in adventure mode, or at the very least, a tavern along a main road. Then be able to list it as a tavern and have people come by and buy things from me. And just be able to live out a solo adventure of running a small tavern and farming my own resources etc. It never needed to be as in-depth as other tavern keeper games. It was more the idea or building it up myself, logging my own wood, constructing my own buildings etc. I know you can do this all in fortress mode, but I never wanted the fortress experience when acting out this play style. I just wanted to be able to control one character and slowly work through everything. Think of it more like a 'settler' mode where you find an empty plot of land somewhere and try build something from it all.

There is a "hermit" setup where you have a single dwarf in Fortress Mode. But you'll still need the workshops, stores, etc of Fortress Mode.

I have a strong feeling that this will develop into its own animal, possibly overtaking the fortress mode, especially for newer players. This has a lot of great potential. There are a lot of 2d fantasy rpg style games, roguelite if you will, but i have a lot of faith in Tarn as a developer and know this will be one of the best of the genre.

A feature i wish existed is the ability to choose what direction you're trying to throw an enemy in. I wish i could choose to try and hit another person with a flying goblin, or smash an elf against a tree. At the moment it feels a bit random where they fly off to, and that can be a little problematic when some of the dungeon enemies have access to healing resources and you just punted them halfway across a room and away from the fighting.

While I love to explore the adventure mode, I hope some fixes to the fortress mode will be the next priority. FPS death and the completely broken mission/raid system definitely need to be addressed.
