Tip I learned: Guided minecarts can pass each other in opposite directions on the same track. TY

Well if they are guided, then the dwarfs can derail one by hand let the other one pass and rerail it afterwards. But if they are not guided that won’t work. So makes sense to me 😉

Thank you so much for the detailed minecart explanation. I know you apologized for the length but in this case I very much appreciate it and was looking for a more long-form explanation. Really helpful stuff for newbie DF players like me.

So your telling me. I could take a lead Minecart, engrave it with the dwarven equivalent of "eat this" and shove it down 100z levles into a forgotten beasts face?
@yobgodababua1862 Жыл бұрын
FYI: You set "Upper Dump" to "Guide North" even though the stop is on a stretch of East-West track. It might not have even shown if the cart was moving under it's own power because the momentum would carry it through the dump stop, but since it's guided I'm not sure if the route will fail of if the cart will be derailed. Either way, you'll find out soon enough! Stay Dwarfy and Keep Striking the Earth!

But how do you dig a channel 100 layers down without manually clicking one tile at a time? :( Is there a way?

4:40 there is one reason to use metal minecarts if you aren't weaponizing them: unless you have nether-cap, magma-safe metals are the only way to make magma-safe minecarts.

Any chance to go more indepth to mine carts working up hill? I can't get them to push them. I create a 2nd stop but this then just makes them pick up the minecart and carry it upstairs instead of push it.
@TheStevenWhiting Жыл бұрын
Got it working. They wouldn't push it up as no stop the other end in the "route". So even though the end of the route is just a dump point, you still appear to need to tell them to go to that route in the list. Also one of the ramps was unusable so I had to rebuild it which you then can't carve so had build that part of the track. I knew you can join carved track and built track together.

There's already a default work detail for stonecutters. It's probably there because it's used for smoothing too.

I feel like I'm missing something here. At 6:30 you seem to be selecting between 2 spots and "it knows what to do" but I can't seem to make it know what to do even over 3 z-level changes with nothing in the way. What have I missed?

I'm not sure I understand why you're forcing the minecarts around the loop. Surely with one cart and one route running over the tracks, it doesn't matter, you can simply dump the goods, then send the cart back along the way it came.
@PiersCawley Жыл бұрын
Dumping trackstops don't need you to actually stop there, they'll just work as the cart passes them.

Hi, again great Video THX... Q - Can somehow the Carts be used as "Rail Way" not to Transport things but Dwarfes? My map is 8x8 and i made all Tombs at the Edge of the map... Now my Dwarf are to lazy to walk there...

I'm playing along with my own fort. Once the minecart track was created, I've noted that at times (not always?) a dwarf will pick up the cart and walk it all the way up to the top via stairs, or all the way down to the bottom. Any theories on what could be going wrong?
@wielkiedrzewo Жыл бұрын
At your track, set the "end point" so that dwarves push the cart the OPPOSITE way whenever the cart is at 0% of desired items. The opposite settings to what you have at the start.
@mikegillespie5218 Жыл бұрын
@@wielkiedrzewo turns out the issue was that I mined a space next to the track (beside a track ramp and under another track section) which somehow impacted the route. I ended up building new track overtop and it’s now working.whew!

This tutorial is useless because you don't show how the heck you created the ramps and tunnels that the cart travels through. Please show the whole process from a fresh save where you don't already have anything dug into the mountain yet. For example how do you create the ramp that goes back and forth all the way down from above? When I build a ramp like that, it's just a huge gap in the world and nothing can pass through it.
