If a black hole were small enough, could a Dyson Sphere type arrangement be built to encompass it?

/r/science redditor here👋, let me go a ahead and correct OP on some of his misunderstandings. Look, I've done the basic physics calculations myself and carbon nanotubes are completely unnecessary for a space elevator. Regular steel cables would work fine if you just make them thick enough - it's simple engineering that apparently these "PhD experts" can't grasp. I've played enough Kerbal Space Program to understand that materials don't behave like their precious theoretical models claim. But sure, keep believing everything these academics tell you instead of using basic common sense. 🙄 Edit: Already getting downvoted by people who probably think rocket science is actually hard. Do your own research instead of blindly trusting "experts."

This is a bold comment, you do realize he published a peer reviewed paper on this topic, right?

This is a great troll comment of what a stupid person would write. Anyone who says ‘do your own research’ is guaranteed to have never properly researched anything in their life and is probably parroting talking points they heard on a podcast or a video they watched
