I think vents near the gates and base of the wall could act as a defensive measure. Maybe have a centralized vent station that can direct the fumes where it’s needed. Then above it could be a central vent stack that’s used when the defensive measures aren’t needed. Also with the city being steam powered, I think there should be a pipefitters guild whose job is to create the copper piping and fittings and then they do the inspections and maintenance of all the piping throughout the city. I would also recommend adding cutoffs to some of the main steam pipes in case of breakage. And also due to the prevalence of steam, there probably should be extensive burn wards or treatment centers. Further into the city, underground could be mushroom farms that the poorer citizens rely on. Could help show a difference in food quality

Mushroom farms is an excellent idea, I need to find a way to implement them. Should the farms be in artificial chambers or natural caverns?

@@inquisition6275 I like the idea of central smoke stacks the poor could use the idea of mushroom farms and smoked things as preservatives. Using the detritus of their surroundings. Mushroom farms sound cool as hell. Natural farms that were eventually expanded upon.

Hey dukon, this build just keeps getting better and better! If you keep this level of build up, this place is going to be unbelievable when it's finished!! One thought I had while watching this is that if there are so many masons, and so many pillars, statues, bricks etc being built, then it would make sense for the citadel to have a section that is still under construction, or have a large trading area to sell these creations, or both even! Or else it wouldn't quite make sense to have hundreds of pillars etc being built just for show in the workshop! Keep this build up, please! Loving it ❤
@Dukonred1
@Dukonred1 18 күн бұрын
Yes I do plan on having construction going on, even in great chambers deep underground that are being worked on. The trading idea is a neat concept, I may look into it, thank-you!

Wonderful video, as always! As far as chimneys are concerned If you can’t hide them or disperse them maybe accent them You could make them fanciful and function almost like public statues in town squares (except they’re fancy chimneys)
@Dukonred1
@Dukonred1 17 күн бұрын
This is a really good idea, just will be difficult to implement due to how many I will need. Take the housing districts for example, each house will need multiple fireplaces

Instead of making less chimneys, you could use the chimneys as base structure for decorations like a pillar or a statue, like in Paris where they put fake facades for the underground vent system

Some lightwells or mirrors to draw some light into the underground areas could be a fun addition. I love that idea that for dwarves sunlight becomes a novelty and a commodity for the wealthiest because they’re dwarves - they don’t need sunlight they’re happy to live underground in the dark but the wealthy like having windows. Sunlight becomes an exotic novelty item like the pineapple did. Maybe there’s some upper classes that aren’t quite wealthy enough to live on the surface but still want some of that sweet, sweet sunlight underground.
@Dukonred1
@Dukonred1 18 күн бұрын
Exactly, sunlight is a luxury for the more wealthy class of society. Light mirrors are a neat idea, just not sure how I can implement the effect. Would have to swiss cheese with holes the buildings above ground to let in the natural light. I do plan for sure to utilize natural light for future chambers however

It could be cool to make that Inn a dwarven owned establishment, which caters to dwarven clientele in a massive underground basement and secret tavern (dwarves only). Also might be neat for the underground of your dwarven city if you were to make the “trees” look like Monterey cypress or bonsai trees, but rather than being actual leafy trees they could instead be mushrooms that just look like trees from an distance. The caps could form into the numerous disk shapes that the canopy of a Monterey cypress or bonsai has, and the stalks of the mushrooms could be hard and brown. Also maybe you could have extensive moss and lichen fields instead of grass. Perhaps you could make use of the many colors lichen comes in. Or maybe you could do algae pools, where they take on numerous colors under the water, like a rainbow or an oil slick. Or maybe you could mimic the coloration of the Yellowstone paint pots, with the hot springs providing some of the hot underground water.

Excellent ideas (as always) already incorporated your dwarven inn idea for the Riverton inn. The bonsai style is a neat idea, will look into making some designs in future episodes. As for underground farms. I feel like they would look better in caverns than artificial spaces, what do you think?

This looks absolutely amazing!!! A tiny inconsistency I noticed - in the back side of the pillar on the left, in the main entrance gate that leads to the big doors that will eventually lead to the mine shafts, you’re missing the runes that exist on the rest of the sides :) I hope that makes sense! Thank you so much for sharing this project with us - it’s truly amazing.

Fantastic as always Duk! I'd like to know your opinoions about utiliterian smokestacks for the surface. My pitches would be putting the piping more purpouse like: A very thick street lamp; -Mechanized clock that runs on the smoke current; -Noticeboards signs and ads for people around the settlement (or even like those cylindrical stalls that sell newspaper and things (just the shape tho, it can sell something different like quick runes or whatever); -If it's inconveniently in the middle of a townsquare, make it a huge grill heats by the hot smoke so some dwarf parties would have a historical dedicated area to celebrate outside, or creamate people for ceramony purposes. -Or run some of them through buildings like closed off chimneys. It clickedon me a bit late but you can make the stonecutter just 1 block higher and sink it under a pool for constant lubrication/less dustclouds. For the empty vertical spaces within the shop there always can be some pulleys/projects hanging around to just elevate the things or even store them up in the air, that way you'd still be able to use the cranes to move them around in ground level.

I really like your idea of hanging stuff around from the ceilings. Need to look into doing that for future industry. When I make massive halls like this, I do try to avoid cluttering the space with stuff in an attempt save the viewing angles. But if I make shorter, more warehouse style spaces, this idea would work really well

I love the small mechanical stuff you are doing here, what you can do for chimney is sort of like a sewage system, having one wind out put site that runs through the city and pushes air through the pipes and out a central smoke stack. I also love the idea of beryl bronze I think that is awesome. I know some want to move to steel but there are cooler and more thematic alternatives. Lets say Tal Valloran is built atop a beryl depot, which allows for better themal absorption ( I think) than other bronze types. There is also aluminum bronze, which is comparable to steel in a weapon sense due to it being more bendy than beryl, but has a great strength to it. Tin Bronze can be used for cogs, which it is well suited for with its hardness and strength. Beryl is strong and hard but to hard for any bendy applications. Another is Phosphor bronze, great for springy operations while still retaining the thermal and electro of regular copper. All I am saying is that stick with copper, and its forms. It is way more interesting than steel. These would play well with the idea of pipes and springs and gears that you seem to be going with, not magical, but more than reality. Alu- Bronze is also great for corrosion resistance, same with beryl. While phos bronze is great at fatigue resistance. So you have all these interesting points to pull from to create an industry that is very interesting. I would like to say that at 33:00, it is large enough, over the course of time, they would be able to build and construct such things. Dont think in terms of ohh it would take forever to construct such things, yes yes it would, infact they started on that tower when your city was a village, these are long thinking people, used to harsh living for long times in pursuit of long goals. I think its fine mate.

It's awesome that you make a dwarven build. They are my favorite fantasy race and sadly you don't see many minecraft builds themed around them. The architecture and color palette looks great, amazing build! Looking at that citadel ontop of the hill, brother, it looks as sturdy as it looks beautiful. Thank you and your fellow builders for doing that. May your beards never grow thin! Also honorable shoutout to the medieval city, looks really great as well. Love the videos! Keep it up! I think it would be a cool idea to build the inn in a square or rectangular shape, with a center courtyard for gatherings or dining area for guests/patrons. It could be two or three stories with rooms surrounding the courtyard. I'm imagining a design like a motel where the walkway areas to each room are covered and outdoors. Across the courtyard could be string lights to light up the space. I'm pulling inspiration for this from the courtyard area of a hotel I stayed at in Strasbourg, France. The rooms over looked a courtyard with a long table for events/gatherings. The hotel is Hôtel Cour du Corbeau Strasbourg if you want to check it out.

Loving the look of this project, my guys! Fantastic work. If you're struggling for Dwarven-aesthetic music, you can always check up on Simon Swerwer's stuff, he did a whole bunch of fan tracks (and even some of the official ones) for Dwarf Fortress, all the music on his channel is BY-NC-SA (tl;dr, you can use it so long as it's not commercially). I'm personally a fan of "Kobold March" and "Danger Room", but there's more relaxed stuff in that guy's collection too.

You can use the Light Block in a brush generally by using the "minecraft:light" 💡But I'm sure that you already tried that, so I'd say to copy the block, and put it inside a clipboard brush. EXAMPLE: 1. Place a Light Block. 2. Select Region and //copy 3. use "//brush sphere 95%0,5%#clipboard" or in some plugins you'd have to use #copy instead of #clipboard.

How about a ventilation system that is mechanical and remotely controled? Sections could open and close with steam powered mechanisms navigating the pressurized air/smoke where it should go. The hot air might go underneath floors to heat them up and add an extra layer of luxury! Air pressure might also be utilized by the lower class, where a steam boiler would be too expensive, they could create kinetic power from turbines in the ventilation system. Finally, it allows for controlled smoke and air flow, which you can adjust to the wind or the weather, I'm sure there are more uses.

You know why the dwarves view that dormant volcano as their home? Early on in the dawn of the dwarves, an asteroid of unique metal and stone crashed into the center of the mountain. The mountain erupted into what would be known as the Dor Novak (or Great Awakening). After ages of time and space, the volcano calmed, and then came the Dwarves. The early king of the dwarves wrote in the Histories, he felt the presence of their deity calling him and his people to a "Great Warmth". In his vigor, the King attempted to climb straight up however, the mountain would not permit it. The king instead decided to travel around the mountain, noting on the beauty and strange materials that glistened with the superheated water passing under in deep channels. After a week of ascending the mountain, the King and his people reached the top. The King would then write about a sign from the gods, that this spot was marked for the dawn of the Dwarves and their beginning as a true people of the world. The strange Asteroid in the center of the pool would be known as the Sigil of their Free-Will and Right to Survive. Comments can complete the Before and After. LOVE YOU DUKON!

This is an excellent idea! I want to see more like this. You seem to be very interested in developing lore (which is my current task). So I have to weave the lore of Tal Valloran into the foundation world lore set up by the server owner. His lore says that deep under the volcano, a defeated powerful sorcerer is regaining his strength, siphoning energy from the magma. When this sorcerer entered the volcano, the then erupting volcano, froze and the lava within converted to a myriad of unique and powerful minerals, the most powerful of which is Vallorium (magic fuel). I'm trying to tie the founding of Tal Valloran to not just be happenstance but perhaps a religious, or divine, interference, causing the founder to unite the clans and build Tal Valloran. So while the Dwarves as a race are ancient, Tal Valloran is more of a recent construct
